Job Summary

The Data Governance Technical Steward plays a critical role in the management, configuration, and optimization of the organization's data governance platform. This position bridges the gap between IT, business and data governance teams to ensure seamless integration, performance, and alignment with enterprise data strategies. The ideal candidate will have experience in enterprise data tools, metadata management, strong business/stakeholder engagement and automation of data quality processes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and maintain the data governance platform, ensuring stability, performance, and scalability.
  • Collaborate with IT & Data teams to support tool integration, system upgrades, performance tuning, and issue resolution.
  • Ensure the data governance platform aligns with the enterprise architecture and data strategy.
  • Configure workflows, metadata models, business glossaries, and lineage tracking within the tool environment.
  • Support metadata management, data cataloging, and data lineage implementation activities.
  • Assist in defining and implementing data quality rules, controls, and monitoring mechanisms in collaboration with Data Quality and Governance teams.
  • Enable both automated and manual methods to ensure data accuracy, consistency, and completeness across key systems.
  • Contribute to tool documentation, training, and knowledge-sharing sessions for end users and data stewards.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • 3-5+ years of experience with data governance platforms (e.g., Collibra, Informatica, Secoda, Alation, etc.).
  • Strong understanding and working knowledge and experience of metadata management, data lineage, and data quality principles.
  • Experience with API integrations, scripting (e.g., Python, SQL), and platform configuration.
  • Familiarity with enterprise IT environments, architecture frameworks, and cloud platforms.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and a collaborative approach to cross-functional teamwork.

Preferred Skills:

  • Certifications in data governance or specific toolsets.
  • Experience working with Secoda is ideal.
  • Experience working in regulated industries (e.g., finance, healthcare).
  • Experience in CPG and/or food industry.
  • Understanding of data privacy regulations (e.g., CCPA).

The Data Governance Technical Steward plays a critical role in the management, configuration, and optimization of the organization's data governance platform. The ideal candidate will have experience in enterprise data tools, metadata management, and automation of data quality processes. The key difference in the previous role is the need product management background and experience as they will be leading the product and overall transformation for Data Governance here at Compass. The skillsets are the following:

  • This role will manage the migration from Collibra to Secoda and maintain the overall platform, ensuring stability, performance, and scalability.
  • Will be the technical resource and support for all things related to Secoda.
  • Must drive and collaborate with IT & Data teams to support tool integration, system upgrades, performance tuning, and issue resolution.
  • Ensure the data governance platform, Secoda, aligns with the enterprise architecture and data strategy.
  • This technical resource must have experience in enterprise data tools, metadata management, data quality and automation of data quality process.
