Summary:

The Sr. Director for Global Logistics is responsible for developing and implementing Trident's overall global logistics strategy. They will oversee Trident's global logistics, including ocean freight contracting and sourcing, international third-party warehousing, freight forwarders and ocean carriers, and US over-the-road freight. In addition, this position is responsible for design and oversight of Trident's distribution network and 3rd Party Logistics (3PL) providers. This position will also play a key role in SAP enhancements and implementation of technologies in the logistics space.

Spend- Ocean Freight (~$75M), OTR FTL, LTL Freight (~$45M), Distribution/Warehousing (~$35M), Freighters (~$10M), Drayage ($1.5M)

  • Leads and mentors a team of logistic talents, providing guidance, coaching and fostering their professional development

  • Strategically plans and implements logistics/distribution network(s) that is competitively advantaged and supports efficient route-to-markets across all customer channels.

  • Develops and implements logistics strategies and procedures, including Requests for Proposals (RFPs), routing guide compliance, contract compliance, international third-party logistics, and ocean freight logistics.

  • Provides operational management around international third-party logistics and freight management technologies (including SAP, E2Open, and BlueJay). Plays a key role in the technology implementation and enhancements.

  • Manages contracts and relationships with vendors, including contract compliance, price negotiations, and services.

  • Acts as a key decision-maker for core carrier and 3PL/warehousing contracts, freight, and inventory allocation optimization.

  • Leads continuous improvement efforts, including reducing total spend, reducing the number of inventory touches and related costs, and improves efficiency by optimizing the allocation of inventory direct to carriers or freight forwarders.

  • Conducts analysis and provides regular reporting on logistics performance and KPIs, including SAP/BlueJay and E2Open accuracy, and Supply Chain Unlimited Business Acceleration (SCUBA) statuses.

  • Oversees regulatory compliance for our international logistics function and vendors; creates and maintains documentation with Trident's requirements and specifications.

  • Works cross-functionally with other departments to ensure the logistics operations align with overall business objectives; provides regular communication around potential supply disruptions, regulatory changes, and current rates.

This is a salaried exempt position with an annualized salary range of $190k to $250k.

Minimum Requirements

Required Qualifications (education, years of experience, KSAs)

  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in global logistics, with a focus on shipping, supply chain optimization and cost reduction.

  • A bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field, the equivalent combination of education and years of experience.

  • In-depth knowledge of international shipping carriers and international shipping regulations. Export and Customs direct experience.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.

  • Strong negotiation skills and experience in contract management.

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.

  • Proven leadership and mentoring capabilities.

  • Ability to travel internationally, up to 25%

Preferred education and experience

  • Frozen shipping experience

  • CLT, CSCP, OSHA, CHMM, APICS certifications

  • Seafood industry experience

Work environment (includes travel/on-call):

This position requires international travel (up to 25%). This job takes place in a typical office environment: temperature controlled with adequate lighting and has moderate noise.

Physical demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk and sit; talk or hear, both in person and by telephone; use hands to finger, handle or feel objects or controls; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, or crouch. May occasionally lift up to 15 lbs.
