Oversees and directs activities of accountants engaged in reviewing and analyzing financial statements, performing calculations and verifications of accounting information, maintaining journals and ledgers, reconciling various transactions and accounts, and closing accounting periods.
Manages activities to ensure work is accomplished efficiently and timely, andobjectives and individual performance standards are met.
Directs the preparation of monthly financial statements, and reviews to ensure same are accurate, complete, justified and in accordance with established department procedures for financial and accounting standards.
Plans and coordinates the schedules and workflow for annual financial audit of organization, ensures organization's financial records accurately reflect financial activities.
Performs critical review and analysis of internal and external audit reports and recommendations, and participates in developing changes to processes or procedures requiring improvement, and implementing appropriate policy or procedural changes.
Develops and implements a cross-training schedule for key accounting functions, including general, fund, and asset accounting, cash disbursements, reconciliations, reports and payroll.
Investigates and resolves more complex accounting problems. Contacts sites and Gateway personnel in order to process problems or sensitive situations, which could not be resolved by accountants.
Participates in various special projects or assignments, as an individual or team member, such as conducting audit preparations, coordinating related systems changes with information systems staff and evaluating accounting systems and procedures to ensure efficacy of functions.
Identify department needs and requirements; and resolve operational problems and barriers to providing effective service.
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field.
5 years progressively more responsible, related experience; with at least 3 years concurrent supervisory experience.
Interpersonal skills necessary to oversee and direct the work of others, and refined communication skills necessary to effectively gather and exchange information with various organization managers, and explain and resolve complex accounting problems.
Advanced analytical abilities necessary to perform critical review and analyses of financial statements and reports, and develop and administer procedures.
The selected candidate will need to work in our downtown office everyday for the first 60 days, and after thatcan work remotely up to 2 days a week.
This is a managerial role with 4 direct reports. This position reports to the Controller. The compensation range for this role is $80K - $100K. Benefits at Gateway Foundation: Health and Wellness:
