Position Highlights:



  • Develops and maintain a collegial relationships with physicians and other clinicians in order to support the business efforts of the organization. Ensures clinical and enterprise communication is disseminated to their healthcare providers and teams in the clinic, region, market in the spirit of transparency across all aspects of our business
  • Collaborates with Market Operations and Provider Relations staff in the market(s).
  • Conducts and directs standardized, Interdisciplinary Team meetings and ensures patient information is disseminated to physicians and clinics to ensure appropriate patient care is being delivered.
  • Implement market specific initiatives and ensures that processes and procedures are aligned with the business model. Drives improvement of quality indicators in assigned market by identifying, directing, and executing continuous quality improvement activities or processes.
  • Perform annual evaluations of the Physician(s) and Advance Practice Clinicians, and other providers as directed, Participates in mentoring and leadership development
  • Participates in Committees, as needed.
  • Collaboration with marketing and broker to community to represent the value of the WellMed model to the community and more specifically, the Supportive Care value.
  • Assist in successful onboarding of new clinicians.
  • Partnering with the Clinical Affordability team to support new innovative approaches to making healthcare more efficient and meaningful to PCPs and patients alike; ultimately bending the cost curve in region
  • Developing and cascading clinical outcome/improvement messaging to business units to foster tighter working culture Helping set agendas/strategies and leading multifaceted teams of Physician Business Managers, Risk Adjustment RNs, and Quality RNs
  • Assist in the identification and development of current/new best practices in support of continuous financial and quality improvement
  • Serve as an integral dyad partner to your Program Supervisor/Administrator while interfacing with Corporate level support divisions, to include: Quality, Risk Adjustment, Cost and Care
  • Performs QI programs for your market to improve the Supportive Care program.
  • Ensures metrics and outcomes are followed and achieved in your market.
  • Partners with community and market to enhance any initiatives that are needed to support the growth and the development of programs to encourage improved use of Supportive Care across the market.
  • Creates and works on at least 2 new initiatives/per market/per year to enhance Supportive Care.
  • Educates teams on clinical care and initiatives.
  • Quarterly ride-alongs with all clinicians to improve consistency and optimal clinical care among team members.
  • Chart reviews and oversight of APCs to include monthly QRA forms.
  • Performs all other related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:



  • Doctor of Medicine (M.D.), Doctor of Osteopathy (D.O.), or M.B.B.S
  • Current board certification from ABMS or ABOS specialty board in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine
  • Active, unrestricted medical license in Texas
  • Valid DEA license
  • Minimum of five years of clinical practice experience post residency
  • Minimum of five years of proven experience leading/managing providers and/or teams


Preferred Qualifications:



  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) fluency
  • A working understanding and support of a managed care environment
  • Additional expertise and/or certification in caring for geriatric, frail patients
  • Prior in-home experience
  • Additional expertise and/or certification in Palliative Care



The salary range for this role is $269,500 to $425,500 annually based on full-time employment. Salary Range is defined as total cash compensation at target. The actual range and pay mix of base and bonus is variable based upon experience and metric achievement. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
