Job Summary (Primary function)
The Director to Senior Director, Business Development & Licensing is responsible for identifying and evaluating molecules to in-license or acquire, leading the necessary technical review and due diligence required to evaluate the programs, creating comprehensive opportunity assessment and supporting program valuation and negotiation of collaboration and licensing agreements. This person reports to the Division Vice President & Head of Business Development and must work closely with various functional area leads across the organization.

Essential Functions of the Job (Key responsibilities)

  • Conduct search and evaluation activities to identify pharmaceutical licensing opportunities and strategic collaborations in key therapeutic areas of strategic interest, including immunology and auto-immunity, oncology and dermatology.
  • Lead the assessments of business opportunities including completing an in-depth review and summary of preclinical and clinical data, outlining development timings and probability of success, and summarizing the competitive landscape.
  • Coordinate diligence teams comprising functional area experts and be able to effectively interface between project teams and executive leadership.
  • Manage an efficient process of evaluating BD opportunities on regular basis by scheduling meetings to review confidential information and conduct due diligence and debrief with the internal functional team.
  • Work with colleagues to support completion of a comprehensive opportunity analysis, valuation and collaboration structure.
  • Effective and diligent record keeping.
  • Assist in the negotiation of collaboration structures and financial terms.
  • Keep abreast of new developments in the fields of immunology and oncology.
  • Participate in scientific and trade conferences.

Qualifications (Minimal acceptable level of education, work experience, and competency)

* Advanced science degree (Pharm.D., M.D., Ph.D.).

* 5+ years of relevant experience in the pharmaceutical / biotechnology industry with a track record of success.

* Deep knowledge in scientific evaluation and development of pharmaceutical opportunities with experience in completing due diligence assessments.

* Experience in immunology and oncology preferred.

* Familiarity with business collaboration structures and implementation.

* Strong interpersonal skills with ability to align internal stakeholders and to externally represent Incyte as a partner-of-choice.

* Broad knowledge and international network in the life sciences industry.
