The Opportunity:

Join Hitachi Energy as a GIS Field Service Engineer/Site Manager, where you'll lead the charge on construction sites, overseeing the installation, modification, and repair of high voltage ( 69kV through 800kV) equipment. This role is your chance to represent Hitachi Energy to contractors, customers, suppliers, and the local community, making impactful decisions and leading technical field assignments with discretion and good judgment. You'll be at the forefront of complex equipment commissioning and testing, ensuring projects are executed smoothly and safely.

How You'll Make an Impact:

  • Lead technical field assignments and make critical decisions.

  • Direct the work of field teams and subcontractors.

  • Manage productivity to ensure timely project completion.

  • Ensure adherence to drawings, specifications, and quality standards.

  • Promote safe practices and meet health, safety, and environmental requirements.

  • Supervise the installation and commissioning of high voltage GIS substations.

  • Conduct frequent inspections and document pertinent information.

  • Plan, schedule, and lead on-site weekly progress meetings.

  • Perform and document field testing on equipment.

Your Background:

  • Strong mechanical and electrical aptitudes.

  • Trade education and experience in Industrial Mechanic and Electrical trades.

  • College or university diploma/degree in a technical field (electrical or mechanical engineering).

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in service or construction management, preferably with high voltage equipment.

  • Hands-on experience in substation construction, servicing, and commissioning.

  • Knowledge of electrical testing and high voltage equipment.

  • Proven leadership experience in coordinating and leading crews.

  • Ability to read and interpret complex documents and construction drawings.

  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Outlook, SharePoint, and MS Project.

  • Physical ability to work on-site, including climbing and lifting.

  • Valid US driver's license and work authorization.

  • Ability to travel extensively (80%), including occasional trips to Canada and Mexico.

  • Fluent in English with strong communication skills.

  • OSHA 10 training completion certificate or ability to acquire.
