The Opportunity

Are you ready to join a dynamic team at Hitachi Energy, where innovation meets excellence? We are seeking a Mechanical Design Specialist to work in a collaborative environment using cutting-edge CAD and modeling tools to design dry-type transformers in both 2D and 3D technologies. Your designs will meet electrical and mechanical requirements specified by customers, industry standards, and internal controls. This role offers the chance to directly engage with customers locally and internationally, contributing to the profitable growth of our organization.

How You'll Make an Impact

  • Utilize state-of-the-art design methods and calculations.
  • Translate and deliver designs and manufacturing information efficiently.
  • Engage with customers both locally and abroad.
  • Collaborate closely with a functional team.
  • Apply prudent engineering and design practices.
  • Report directly to the Mechanical Engineering Manager.
  • Prioritize responsibilities and work independently.
  • Travel within the U.S. (<2% travel time).

Your Background

  • High School diploma and 4 years of experience in mechanical design, OR Associate degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology or comparable Engineering Technology.
  • Experience in transformer mechanical design.
  • Proficiency with 3D modeling tools (Inventor, SolidWorks, Pro-e, Creo, etc.).
  • Ability to quickly learn and apply internally written programs.
  • Understanding of applicable transformer and industry standards (ANSI/IEEE, NFPA, UL, CUL, CSA, IEC).
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Suite applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, etc.).
