Responsibilities
1. Strategic Leadership & Engagement Develop and implement a comprehensive engagement and experience strategy that enhances donor relationships and increases philanthropic support across YNHHS. 1 .1 Lead a high-performing team across annual giving, grateful patient giving, strategic events, communications, and stewardship to drive integrated advancement initiatives. 1 .2 Partner with senior leadership, clinicians, and development colleagues at both YNHHS and the Yale School of Medicine (YSM) to strengthen grateful patient fundraising efforts, ensuring a seamless and meaningful donor journey. 1 .3 1 .4 Utilize date analytics and insight to refine engagement strategies and measure effectiveness. 2. Annual Giving & Grateful Patient Giving Oversee annual giving programs, ensuring a dynamic and data-driven approach to donor acquisition, retention, and pipeline development. 2 .1 Develop and implement grateful patient giving programs by collaborating with clinical and administrative leaders at YNHHS and YSM to identify and cultivate prospective donors . 2 .2 2 .3 Drive innovative fundraising initiatives that enhance donor participation and revenue growth. 3. Communications, Stewardship & Donor Relations Lead strategic communications efforts to effectively articulate the impact of philanthropy and inspire donor support. 3 .1 Oversee donor stewardship programs to ensure a best-in-class experience that fosters long-term engagement and loyalty. 3 .2 Develop multi-channel engagement strategies that align with YNHHS?s brand, mission, and fundraising priorities. 3 .3 4. Strategic Events & Experiences 4 .1 Develop innovative experiences that enhance donor engagement and inspire deeper philanthropic commitment. 4 .2 4 .3 Ensure alignment between events, stewardship, and overall advancement strategies. 5. Management Supervise and mentor a team of professionals and support staff , providing structured professional development opportunities and targeted training; evaluating personnel; and making recommendations regarding hiring, training; promotions, disciplinary actions, and terminations. 5 .1 Make unit budget recommendations and oversee the effective management of multiple departmental and project budgets. 5 .2 Manage partnerships with YNHHS internal organizations ? specifically IT and Finance ? to maintain coordinated, efficient, and collaborative approaches to systems and processes. 5 .3
Qualifications
EDUCATION Bachelor's degree is required. MBA, MHA or equivalent advanced degree is strongly preferred. EXPERIENCE Minimum of 10+ years of progressive leadership experience in advancement, fundraising, or donor engagement required. Prior experience within a healthcare or academic medical setting strongly preferred. SPECIAL SKILLS: Proven expertise in annual giving, grateful patient programs, donor relations, strategic events, and communications. Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor teams, fostering collaboration and high performance. Strong strategic, analytical, and project management skills with a record of driving results. Exceptional communication and relationship-building abilities, with the capacity to engage high-level donors and institutional leaders. The ability is needed to participate in business development planning processes, distill those elements most attractive to the donor in a compelling proposal, ensuring that the gift will make the greatest impact upon the institution's strategic priorities. Creative attention to detail and an interdisciplinary understanding of health system operations, industry trends, current events and how to make those most relevant to a large donor is required. LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION: N/A SPECIAL WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL DEMAND: Availability to work nights and weekends and travel to events as needed . Work is performed in a remote or office-based environment and requires the ability to operate standard office equipment.

Position Overview
The Vice President of Donor Experience and Engagement will be a key leader within the Yale New Haven Health System (YNHHS) Office of Advancement, responsible for developing and executing strategies that enhance donor engagement, inspire philanthropy, and strengthen relationships with key stakeholders. This executive will oversee annual giving, grateful patient giving, strategic events, communications, and stewardship, ensuring an integrated approach to donor experience and institutional advancement. Reporting directly to the Senior Vice President and Chief Development Officer, the Vice President will be a strategic and innovative leader who leverages data-driven insights, industry best practices, and cross-functional collaboration to elevate YNHHS's philanthropic impact.
