Summary:

A Data Platform Administrator is an independent data professional who installs, configures, manages, monitors and optimizes business intelligence tools, data analytics tools, and Cook's data platforms technologies. This role collaborates closely with IS team members from business intelligence, research, infrastructure, security, application support, and leadership to ensure supported systems meet all functional and non-functional requirements. The Data Platform Administrator provides 24/7 mission-critical support for Cook on-premise and cloud data infrastructure.

The Data Platform Administrator's responsibilities include: installation, configuration and management of data analytics and business intelligence servers, tools and platforms; data platform monitoring, capacity planning, performance optimization and troubleshooting issues to resolution; change management and migrations; access and security administration for data platforms; managing report/dashboard scheduling and distribution; technical integration of business intelligence tools with relevant applications/databases; planning and executing data platform maintenance, enhancements and upgrades; and assisting users with technical and data issues. This role is responsible for vendor relationships, communication, coordination, issue management and resolution. The Data Platform administrator is responsible for writing and maintaining technical, architectural, and process documentation in a clear, concise manner, adhering to standards.

The Data Platform Administrator has technical experience with two or more data platforms including cloud data solutions, Microsoft Fabric, Microsoft SSRS, Microsoft Power BI, SAP Business Objects, SAS Visual Analytics, Collibra, Microsoft Purview etc. as well as familiarity with statistical tools such as SAS, SPSS, etc. The Database Platform Administrator forms productive relationships within the BI team and business customers by listening, clarifying and responding effectively. They have the ability to work independently and have excellent critical thinking and problem-solving skills.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Management Information Systems (MIS), or similar degree with minimum of 2 (two) years of relevant professional experience.

OR

  • Minimum of 5 (five) years of relevant professional experience.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Strong knowledge of business intelligence systems administration, data platforms, and best practices

  • Demonstrated experience and technical knowledge of one or more of the following business intelligence, data governance, and data analytics tools: Microsoft BI Stack (SSRS, Power BI, Fabric), SAP Business Objects, SAS Visual Analytics, Collibra, Microsoft Purview, SPSS, ArcGIS, etc.

  • Proficiency in one or more programming/scripting languages used for system administration or analysis, such as Python, PowerShell, SQL, or R preferred.

  • Working knowledge of cloud-based BI platforms, configuration and delivery.

  • Proven experience with business and technical requirements elicitation, analysis and verification.

  • Able to exercise independent judgment and take action.

  • Excellent analytical, mathematical, and creative problem-solving skills.

  • Excellent listening, interpersonal, written and oral communication skills. Logical and efficient, with keen attention to detail.

  • Highly self-motivated and directed. Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks while under pressure.

  • Strong customer service orientation. Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
