Financial Analyst, FP& A - CPG

Job Summary:
A global Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) company is seeking a Finance Analyst to join their team in Torrance, CA. This crucial role will be at the intersection of finance and operations, providing insightful financial analysis, reporting, and business partnering across various functions. The ideal candidate will possess a strong analytical acumen, excellent communication skills, and proven experience in areas such as cost reduction initiatives, budget management, and financial modeling. Proficiency in utilizing financial planning and analysis (FP&A) principles and tools, including Business Central and Power BI, is essential. This position offers a broad range of responsibilities and significant opportunities for professional growth within a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities:
* Analyze product costs (raw materials, labor, overhead) and departmental operational expenses to identify and implement cost-saving opportunities. Develop and maintain product costing models and track cost variances and trends.
* Play a key role in the development of annual budgets and forecasts, working closely with operational teams. Monitor budget performance, provide insightful variance analysis, and develop and maintain financial forecasting models.
* Analyze financial statements (income statements, balance sheets, cash flow statements) to identify key performance indicators and trends. Prepare comprehensive financial reports and presentations for management, highlighting actionable insights.
* Analyze sales deductions (discounts, rebates, chargebacks) and evaluate the effectiveness of promotional programs, providing data-driven recommendations for optimization.
* Analyze tradeshow expenses to determine ROI and identify cost efficiencies. Track and reconcile all tradeshow-related spending.
* Assist in credit limit reference checks, approve sales orders based on customer credit limits, and maintain accurate records. Support purchase order and purchase request approvals, ensuring alignment with budget and company needs.
* Utilize Business Central for financial data management and reporting, and leverage Power BI to create insightful dashboards and visualizations.
* Assist with tax-related duties, including the preparation and filing of federal and state income tax returns, sales tax, property tax, 1042, 1099, and other tax-related documents.
* Perform ad-hoc financial analysis and reporting as required and participate in special projects as assigned by management.
Qualifications:
* Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.
* Proven experience (preferably 2+ years) in a finance analyst role or similar capacity, demonstrating exposure to cost reduction initiatives, budget management, and financial modeling.
* Familiarity with supply chain or operational finance concepts.
* Proficiency in using ERP systems, preferably Business Central.
* Strong data analysis and visualization skills using tools such as Power BI.
* Solid understanding of financial statements and accounting principles.
* Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills.
* Strong communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills, with the ability to present findings effectively.
* Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
* Detail-oriented with a strong focus on accuracy.
The base pay range above represents the low and high end of the base compensation range we reasonably expect to pay for this position. Actual base compensation will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including, but not limited to, geographic location, actual experience, and job performance.
