Snowflake Notebook's vision is to lead Snowflake customers towards the "art of the possible" in Data Science, ML and AI, enabling them to drive transformational outcomes in their respective industries.

The Notebook team's charter is to build a market leading Notebook for AI/ML workloads. Notebooks are the tool of choice for ML practitioners, and therefore a key adoption enabler to adopt Snowflake ML with an integrated notebook.

Our goal is to deliver a notebook experience that aligns with customer expectations, addresses their workflow needs, and has seamless integration/usability with other Snowflake features. Furthermore, our Notebook accelerates our customers' DS/ML applications far faster than competitor notebooks can. It offers a more delightful/easy experience, reduces time from idea to deployment, and unlocks new use cases.

We are seeking a talented Engineering Manager for our Notebooks team in Bellevue (WA)/Menlo Park (CA) as we scale the team for the next phase of growth. This is a super critical role and provides an opportunity to work on a key company strategic initiative.

AS AN ENGINEERING MANAGER AT SNOWFLAKE, YOU WILL:
  • Set the strategic vision for your team and be accountable for team plans and deliverables

  • Drive team projects from idea formulation, through design and implementation collaborating with partner teams

  • Be able to shift resources across areas and projects to achieve execution goals and to respond to lessons from customer and production issues

  • Provide strong technical leadership to the team with a focus on quality, performance, and scale

  • Foster a culture of creativity and innovation while also promoting practical decision-making

  • Grow and build a strong, healthy, and diverse team by participating in all steps of the recruiting process from sourcing to closing

  • Be responsible for the career development of your reports, providing continuous mentorship and coaching

  • Bootstrap a new team, starting with 2-4 people to build the right set of capabilities & scale it.

  • Key driver for investments around AI/ML, responsible for influencing the direction & roadmap for Notebooks in this area.

OUR IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:
  • 10+ years hands-on software development experience, including significant experience in full stack software development.

  • 3+ years of engineering management experience.

  • Hands on experience on building AI/ML infra/applications with success stories.

  • Deep understanding of modern web applications design architecture, good API design patterns, security, performance and scale.

  • Strong experience driving company initiatives in collaboration with product managers, marketing, legal, etc.

  • Proven track record of recruiting, hiring, leading and growing technical teams.

  • BS/MS/PhD in Computer Science or related majors, or equivalent experience.

The following represents the expected range of compensation for this role:

  • The estimated base salary range for this role is $222,000 - $339,250.
  • Additionally, this role is eligible to participate in Snowflake's bonus and equity plan.

The successful candidate's starting salary will be determined based on permissible, non-discriminatory factors such as skills, experience, and geographic location. This role is also eligible for a competitive benefits package that includes: medical, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance; 401(k) retirement plan; flexible spending & health savings account; at least 12 paid holidays; paid time off; parental leave; employee assistance program; and other company benefits.
