Job Description:

  • Supports laboratory functions for production and/or development teams. Responsible for set-up and calibration of test equipment, execution of test procedures, data recording and reporting, and laboratory supply management
  • Set-up / Tear-down Tech


Role & Responsibilities:

  • This position is for an Engineering Laboratory Services and Support Technician who is under general supervision.
  • Performs basic to moderately complex set-up and tear down activities of large water-cooled chillers.
  • Connect and troubleshoot electrical, mechanical and refrigeration systems on Charlotte manufactured equipment.
  • Operates, inspects and maintains test setups and equipment to detect malfunctions
  • Familiarity with electrical work, including 460-3-60 machinery and medium voltage industrial power supplies.
  • Familiarity with HVAC operation, refrigerant handling, and EPA certification is a plus
  • Experience with pumps, VFDs, boilers, is a plus
  • LO/TO controls troubleshooting and Arc Flash training is helpful
  • Works under moderate supervision to support engineering testing of chillers.
  • Familiarity with industrial tools


Required Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Strong mechanical, electrical, troubleshooting background, and be mechanically inclined
  • 3+ years of experience with hand/pneumatic tools
  • Mechanical skills
  • Moving/lifting weights up to 35 lbs.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with HVAC or other large commercial equipment
  • Commercial HVAC Industrial or operation experience preferred
  • Experience with Instrumentation set up, troubleshooting and calibration
  • Set-up of laboratory equipment with pressure, temperature, and electrical measurements is very important
  • Strong PC skills
  • Experience or familiarity with forklift and overhead crane operation preferred
  • Reading and interpreting complex drawings, schematics, and blueprints
