The Principal Network Engineer is responsible for the design, planning, implementation, and management of the organization's network infrastructure with a primary focus on Cisco and Arista technologies. This role ensures the network is scalable, secure, and highly available to support business objectives. The role will work with a team of network engineers & architects, IT leadership, Network Services Critical Response team and collaborate across departments to align network solutions with business goals.

A SNAPSHOT OF YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Network Design & Strategy: Develop and execute a comprehensive network architecture strategy, with an emphasis on scalability, reliability, and security using Cisco and Arista technologies.

  • Network Security: Collaborate with security teams to implement and maintain best practices for network security, including firewall management, VPN solutions, and network segmentation.

  • Vendor Management: Manage relationships with Arista, Cisco, and other network vendors, ensuring optimal service levels and evaluating new technologies.

  • Performance Monitoring & Optimization: Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) to monitor network performance and troubleshoot issues. Optimize network infrastructure to meet evolving business needs. Tune network alarming and monitoring system to eliminate noise making operations team more efficient.

  • Project Management: Partner with the Critical Response team & PMO on projects, including upgrades, expansions, and integration of new technologies, ensuring timely delivery within budget.

  • Documentation & Compliance: Maintain up-to-date documentation of the network infrastructure and ensure compliance with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and internal policies.

  • Ability to strategically influence and communicate complex ideas, anticipating varying perspectives and objections.

  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and manage multiple priorities.

  • Continuously learn and adapt to emerging changes in networking to ensure that the approach the team take is always at the forefront of innovation while maintain backward integrability.

  • Integrate analytics and monitoring tools to track network health, system performance, and the efficiency.

WHAT YOU WILL NEED

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or relevant experience.

  • Experience in network engineering, architecture, or related roles, with experience in a leadership capacity.

  • Proven track record in designing and managing large-scale, complex networks in enterprise environments.

  • Expert level knowledge of networking protocols (e.g., BGP, OSPF, MPLS, etc.), network security principles and best practices, cloud networking (e.g., AWS, Azure) and SDN technologies, network automation and programmability (e.g., Python, Ansible), Spin-leaf architecture.

  • Extensive experience with Cisco and Arista network solutions, including routing, switching, and network automation.

  • Familiarity with virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware NSX).

  • Strong organizational, communication, and project management skills.

  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and manage multiple priorities.

Pursuant to state and local pay disclosure requirements, the pay rate/range for this role, with final offer amount dependent on education, skills, experience, and location is $160,000.00-200,000.00 annually. This role is also eligible for an annual discretionary bonus, various benefits, including medical/dental/vision, insurance, a 401(k) plan, paid time off, and other benefits in accordance with applicable plan documents. Benefits for Union represented employees will be in accordance with the applicable collective bargaining agreement.
