Join our dynamic team at Ryerson IT Analytics as a Business Intelligence Engineer, where you'll play a pivotal role in shaping the future of data-driven decision-making. In this exciting position, you'll design, develop, and maintain cutting-edge solutions within a cloud data environment, leveraging Azure to empower Power BI applications that drive analytics and reporting across the company. As part of the office of the Chief Data Officer, you'll collaborate with key decision-makers, utilizing a robust toolset that includes industry-leading software like Salesforce.com, Microsoft PowerBI, Azure Analytics, IBM Cognos, Oracle, SAP, and Informatica MDM 360. Roles and Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with business power users to gather and document requirements for new datasets, pipelines, transformation & enhancement logic, measures, data models, and Power BI dashboards.
  • Agree on execution strategy and division of responsibilities between the IT / Analytics team and the business power users.
  • Execute the development of the components that IT / Analytics team is responsible for, coordinating with other members of IT.
  • Manage the dashboard lifecycle from the time that enterprise distribution begins through Certification by IT Analytics and ongoing support and troubleshooting as needed.
  • Documentation of development requirements, technical designs, test plans, and end product functionality.
  • Perform functional testing and validation to ensure that business users agree with the accuracy of data, transformations, enhancements, measures, and dashboard presentations prior to handoff for UAT.
  • Maintain the overall Azure data and Power BI environment to ensure accurate, reliable, resilient, and efficient operation of all functionality and excellent user experience.
  • Ensure compliance with data governance policies and data privacy regulations and manage security and access rights to protect data accordingly.
  • Work with data and SMEs from all business disciplinesat all business levels (local, regional, corporate).

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Scienceor Information Technology.
  • Five plus years ofexperience in data engineering and cloud data processing services, preferably Azure.
  • Expertise in designing and maintaining complex SQL queries and procedures.
  • Strong modeling experience.
  • Experience with ETL tools, e.g. Azure Data Factory, and AWS Glue.
  • Firm grasp of security standards, access control, Row Level Security, and data governance principles.
  • Knowledge of programming languages such as Python or R is preferred.
  • Expert level developer utilizing DAX.
  • Microsoft Certification in Azure Enterprise Data Analyst Associate or Data Analyst Associate.



Salary: $124,000- $158,000 annually. A starting salary higher than $124,000 is based on a level of experience and education that significantly exceeds the minimum requirements and is commensurate with the compensation scale.
