Description

Provide professional-level human resources assistance, service and guidance within one or more areas of responsibility: compensation, benefits, employee relations, recruitment and retention, or other areas as assigned. May be assigned as a generalist providing a full range of services to a group of departments or a specialist, providing services in one or more areas for the entire organization. Partners with management to advise and communicate various HR policies, procedures, laws, standards, and government regulations.

Salary Range: $74,131 - $101,889

Duties and Responsibilities



  • Administer compensation programs and monitor performance evaluation program and revise as necessary.
  • Make recommendations for compensation system adjustments and modifications.
  • Assist in preparation for annual merit increase guidelines as well as budgeting.
  • Develop and revise position descriptions for new and existing jobs.
  • Maintain database of all position descriptions.
  • Utilize existing salary structures to price new jobs through market pricing or slotting.
  • Serve as point of contact for questions on position descriptions, salary ranges and merit increases.
  • Assist department managers with the application of annual pay for performance system for their Employees.
  • Provide advice and information on performance review process.
  • Compile data for and participate in salary surveys as required.
  • Prepare and distribute written communications regarding the company's total compensation package to Employees, including cash and non-cash compensation.
  • Perform benefit administration to include claims resolution, change reporting and reviewing invoices for payment.
  • Evaluate benefit programs and policies to ensure that programs are current, competitive, and in compliance with legal requirements.
  • Prepare and distribute literature to inform Employees of benefit plans and programs.
  • Manage the design and development of tools to assist Employees in understanding and utilizing available benefits.
  • Identify and implement benefits to increase the quality of life for Employees by working with brokers and researching benefit options.
  • Act as liaison and point of contact with third party administrators and Employees for all benefit programs.
  • Act as liaison and point of contact for Employees with questions regarding benefit plans and eligibility.
  • Coach and counsel Employees regarding policies, conflicts and employment issues.
  • Investigate and resolve issues, concerns, and complaints in a timely manner.
  • Seek legal counsel on an as needed basis.
  • Advise and counsel management regarding employee relations, federal, state and local laws, corrective action and termination requests.
  • Maintain consistent production floor visits by touring the production floor on a daily basis.
  • Address issues or concerns that Employees may have in a timely manner.
  • Manage Employee leave of absences such as workers compensation, FMLA and Leave Without Pay (LWOP).
  • Coordinate return-to-work/light duty assignments with department managers and assist in the completion of job analysis for return-to-work program.
  • Plan, schedule and conduct quarterly random drug and alcohol program.
  • Conduct necessary meeting and coordinate referrals for mandatory EAP program.
  • Develop and promote retention and recognition programs.
  • Develop and facilitate new hire orientation.
  • Administer the Employee Suggestion Box Program.
  • Complete and submit unemployment claim documents and act as company liaison for unemployment hearings.
  • Meet with hiring managers and recruiting staff to review job descriptions and confirm skills required for job openings.
  • Conduct recruitment effort for exempt and non-exempt personnel, interns, and temporary including writing and placing advertisements and preparing and posting internal job openings.
  • Review qualifications of potential candidates responding to job postings/advertisements and determine candidates for further consideration.
  • Schedule interviews, schedule interview panel, and develop interview questions, tests or other interview processes as appropriate.
  • Inform interview panel participants of appropriate and inappropriate interview questions or topics to ensure compliance with applicable employment laws and regulations.
  • Interview applicants to match experience with specific-job related requirements.
  • Conduct background checks and administer the pre-employment physical and drug screen process.
  • Support recruiting staff at on-site and off-site recruitment events including job fairs, college recruiting fairs, and trade shows.
  • Conduct exit interviews with Employees leaving to company to assess overall success of employment relationship and opportunities for improvement.
  • Assist in the development of human resources policies and procedures in order to satisfy legal requirements.
  • Assist with planning and execution of employee relations events as necessary.
  • Assist with implementation of quarterly random drug and alcohol program as necessary.
  • Maintain company organizational chart and/or employee directory.
  • Maintain HR intranet website.
  • Research and develop new procedures as requested and maintain employee handbook, policies and procedures.
  • Recommend new approaches and procedures to effect continual improvements in efficiency of department and services performed.
  • Compile, analyze and report on HR data utilizing HRIS and other software programs as necessary.
  • Support all departments by providing reports and data as necessary.
  • Participate as HR representative member of Safety committee.
  • Attend scheduled meetings and report results to department.
  • Assist and/or conduct HR-related training for Employees and managers as necessary.
  • Maintain compliance with federal and state regulations concerning employment.


Skills and Specifications

* Possess an expert knowledge of human resource practices and procedures and multiple human resource disciplines.

* Knowledge of appropriate legislation pertaining to employment compensation and benefits and other related human resource functions.

* Knowledge of company policies and procedures.

* Knowledge of company benefit plans. Knowledge of compensation practices.

* Knowledge of record keeping techniques and procedures.

* Skill in coaching, developing, and training others.

* Ability to utilize/operate a computer, peripheral equipment and appropriate software.

* Ability to successfully use Microsoft software products such as Outlook, Excel, Word and PowerPoint for database, word processing, presentation preparation and reporting purposes.

* Ability to utilize HRIS software such as UKG.

* Ability to write reports in order to meet department objectives.

* Ability to develop close working relationships across all departments.

* Ability to verbally communicate with others in order to coach and lead.

* Ability to integrate data from interviews in order to make appropriate employment decisions.

* Ability to coordinate multiple and changing priorities.

Education and Qualifications

* Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Human Resource Management, or related degree required.

* Three to five plus years' of experience in the administration of Human Resource Programs, preferably within a manufacturing setting, or equivalent combination of education, experience, or certification required.

* SPHR/PHR or SHRM-CP/SCP certification required.

* Must possess a general knowledge of Human Resources laws and practices.

* Personal computer experience in Microsoft applications such as Word, Excel and PowerPoint, required.

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Job tasks are usually performed in an office environment.

Position requires the ability to read, write, speak and understand English at a level necessary to successfully perform assigned responsibilities. Position frequently requires the ability to make quick decisions related to employee relation issues. Ability to utilize interpersonal and teamwork skills, perform basic mathematical computations, follow directions and to understand and apply work specifications in the completion of work tasks. The ability to hear, speak, use hands/fingers and the repetitive motions of hands/wrists are occasional. Vision abilities require the adjustment and focus of sight. Ability to be physically mobile. Ability to wear personal protective equipment during production visits as required.
