Job Summary

The School of Education is currently seeking a Summer Counselor - Upward Bound Math - Science to join their team of professionals.

Duties include:

The Summer Counselor will instruct and supervise young children in academic activities, recreational activities, sports/athletics, arts & crafts, music, and special events during our 5-week summer program.

Be flexible and able to work well with others while maintaining open and effective communication.

Be patient, energetic, fun loving and hardworking.

Assist in creating daily and weekly camp activity schedules and then follow the schedule once it is developed; must have flexibility to make adjustments to schedule as needed to ensure the safety and well-being of the campers.

Perform frequent head counts of campers, particularly when in route from one activity to the next.

Stay up-to-date on all camp-related matters and communicate with camp leadership as needed

Attends mandatory trainings as required.

Minimum Qualifications

Major in Engineering, Chemistry, Biology, Computer Science, Psychology, Education, Behavior Analysis, Social Work, or related field and experience working with children and teenagers.

  • Applicants must be currently enrolled as a student at FIU with a minimum of six (6) credits as an Undergraduate student or three (3) credits as a Graduate student during the Fall and Spring semesters.
  • During the Summer semesters, Students need only remain enrolled and are not required to take credit hours, but cannot have graduated.
  • Upon decreasing credit hours or graduating, student employment must end.

$14.00/hour to $15.00/hour
