A Brief Overview
This position is responsible for the set-up and maintenance of all laboratory equipment, and the preparation of patients for exercise tests, as well as assists with exercise tests, research projects, the cardiac rehabilitation program and training.

What you will do

  • Conducts calibration, operation and maintenance of laboratory equipment before, during and after each procedure. (40%)
  • Prepares patient for exercise testing and assists physician-in-charge in conducting each procedure. (30%)
  • Assists in maintenance of records, compiling test results, billing for procedures and patient files. (10%)
  • Assists supervisor and director with cardiac rehabilitation program including: (10%)
  • Identify and recruit patients
  • Set-up and instruct classes
  • Assist in billing for rehabilitation sessions
  • Keep appropriate records and follow-ups
  • Assists in training of cardiology fellows and visiting physicians assigned to the lab. (10%)

Education Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree Exercise Science Required
  • Master's Degree Exercise Physiology Preferred

Experience Qualifications

  • At least one (1) year experience in an exercise laboratory setting Required
  • At least one (1) year an exercise laboratory setting in which at least 50% of the testing is performed on patients less than of 18 years of age Preferred or
  • physical/ health education teaching or aerobic instruction Preferred

Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of Pulmonary Function Testing and measurement of breath-by-breath respiratory indices

Licenses and Certifications

  • Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) - issued through on organization that requires a hands-on instructor lead psychomotor skills verification (ex. American Heart Association or Red Cross). - upon hire - Required
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) - issued through on organization that requires a hands-on instructor lead psychomotor skills verification (ex. American Heart Association or Red Cross). - upon hire - Preferred
