Position Overview
Primary Purpose of Position |
The overall goal for the Grant Program Leader at the
COAACH Center is to lead recruitment efforts and support the administrative staff of an
NIH funded research study examining cognition in a diverse cohort of older Americans. The Program leader leads recruitment efforts and the management and development of research and community outreach projects. The Program Coordinator will supervise the Grant Program Coordinator and assist the Study PI and
COAACH Director in achieving the aims of the grant and implementing effective study participant recruitment programs, working closely with community partners in producing community health and education events to raise awareness about the research study to increase recruitment efforts. The Program Leader will plan and initiate community health education events that will promote the recruitment of research participants into the research study. In addition to the duties above, the Program Grant Leader will independently manage a broad range of business and administrative affairs. The primary responsibilities will include providing supervision of the Grant Program Coordinator and administrative support to the Study PI in the areas of facilitation and management of financial resources, personnel administration, payroll, planning, and organization of the unit needs.
The Program Leader will supervise the day-to-day administrative workflow of the study, coordinate activities with the Program Coordinator, use discretion & judgment in handling confidential matters, facilitate meetings, assist the PI with special projects and events, and supervise and lead student-led recruitment activities. |

COAACH is to improve healthy aging in diverse communities. The center is N.C. A&T's first formal Community Outreach Center and the first center of this type in the State of North Carolina on a Historically Black University's campus. The goal of the center is to improve health through outreach and improve literacy, awareness and engagement among diverse communities. The four major cores of the center are: 1) community outreach and education in Alzheimer's, Aging and Community Health, 2) intervention and support, 3) education and training, and 4) research in the field of Alzheimer's disease.

Manage all fiscal budgets for the study grant: (Overhead, State, Contracts and Grants, Foundation, Scholarship, and Philanthropy) through the AggieMart and
BANNER financial accounting systems.
Review budget requests and other financial transactions for accuracy, and compliance with established regulations and financial impact.
Enter purchase requisitions, reconcile procurement card statement and track
COAACH foundation expenditures.
In conjunction with the Study PI &
COAACH Director provide expertise on budgetary matters related to finances of the grant study including preparing operating budgets, preparing expense requests, coordinating service contracts, etc.
Gather invoices and receipts for grant funded events and miscellaneous purchases; and prepare check requests for State and University reimbursements. Prepare budget documents and reports required for Budget and Planning. |

COAACH Director to manage study outreach and recruitment events; Exercise independent judgment and discretion to make changes to schedules that conflict with other grant budgetary restrictions.
Establish and foster working relationships with the Contracts & Grants Office,
COAACH Staff,
COST Deans Offices, department chairs and administrative associate staff in streamlining and optimizing administrative processes and functions and procedures.
Works closely with Study PI and
COAACH Director to coordinate special events for the grant study.

Assist the Director with study meetings and agendas, taking notes, emailing announcements, and coordinating meeting locations and times.

Collaborate with University Administrators, Deans, Department Chairs, Administrative Support Associates, faculty, staff, students, and the general public daily, compiling documents for meetings and reports, and preparing agendas and meeting materials.
Assist the Director and administrative leadership in the development of long-range planning and strategic initiatives for the grant study.
Directly supervise the Program Coordinator, providing regular support, feedback, and professional development opportunities assigns and monitors Coordinator responsibilities related to outreach, administrative tasks, event logistics, and grantee support.
Exercise the delegated authority of the position with diplomacy, integrity, and tact while handling sensitive and confidential information for faculty, staff, students, alumni, and advisory board members in disseminating information. |
