  • Perform supervisory responsibilities as the leader of a group engaged in Distribution Center Shop operations.

  • Active involvement in the Company's Total Quality Management process as evidenced by continuous improvement of processes directed toward reducing costs, improving cycle time, increasing sales/gross profit and customer satisfaction.

  • Carries out policies and procedures as defined in the quality manual.

  • Continuous development through reading, schools, seminars and on-the-job training.

Job Duties

  • Perform those supervisory duties which ensure that the work functions of the group are accomplished in a timely and accurate fashion.

  • Exercise independent judgement regarding the priority of work / tasks, assignment of work, and the manner in which work is to be performed by the group.

  • Set objectives/goals for the group which are consistent the overall performance level of the Distribution Center Shop

  • Initiate and monitor those operational methods which will ensure that the group meets its objectives.

  • Implement Distribution Center Shop policies and procedures and ensure compliance by each member of the group.

  • Assign and schedule work for each member of the work group

  • Train, coach and evaluate the performance of each group member in the context of the group's objectives and the overall objectives of the Distribution Center Shop. Prepare written performance evaluations, when required by policy, for each member of the work group. In addition, make specific recommendations to senior Distribution Center Shop management regarding wage rates and merit increases for each member of the group, based on the Team Supervisor's evaluation of individual performance.

  • Along with the DC Shop Manager, assist with interviewing and developing job specific training, based on past work experience, for new hires coming into the Team Supervisor's group.

  • Prepare and maintain all operational records and reports relative to the performance of the group. When appropriate, train/counsel those group members with substandard work levels, set performance goals for those individuals and initiate disciplinary action for substandard performance, if necessary.

  • Schedule vacation and other paid time off for the group. Check and approve time sheets for each member of the group.

  • Maintain other performance records for each member of the group, such as absenteeism, tardiness, errors and rates of work performance, initiating disciplinary action when necessary.

  • Investigate all incidents of unacceptable behavior and make a written report, to include recommendations for corrective action, for the Team Supervisor's immediate report.

  • Hold regularly scheduled team meetings which evaluate group performance, implement safety or quality procedures, or which coordinate the group's work with other teams in the Distribution Center Shop network

  • Maintain a high level of operational knowledge and procedures, and maintain a high level of competency in the use of all equipment assigned to the group's work area.

  • Perform actual work with the group members when assigned / required.

  • Carry out other duties, as assigned or directed.

  • Perform other duties as assigned or directed.

Education and Experience

  • Equivalent of an associates degree, plus specialized training in supervisory and distribution methods. A minimum of three years of operational experience is preferred.

  • SAP knowledge

  • Lean knowledge helpful but not required
