Job Responsibilities
- Maintains proper scheduling of assigned duties and obtain materials to perform cost effective maintenance and repair activities
- Ensures proper working condition of all facility safety systems including: emergency lighting, fire extinguishers, eye wash stations, emergency medical equipment, emergency escape equipment, etc.
- Reports to Maintenance Supervisor items affecting (or potentially affecting) proper and safe operation of equipment
- Prioritizes assigned maintenance work to properly execute emergency and/or mechanical failure response
- Develops appropriate plans in conjunction with the Maintenance Planner and contract out jobs as needed
- Coordinates with Maintenance Supervisor and Maintenance Planner to schedule necessary services
- Maintains proper documentation of all assigned maintenance policies, procedures and schematics
- Maintains the proper electronic recordkeeping of maintenance work orders
- Maintains acceptable log of planned and executed maintenance activities
- Communicates relevant information with staff and participate in staff meetings
- Pursues opportunities for professional development
- Assists with the development and improvement of an effective and efficient maintenance schedule
- Completes Maintenance Work Orders daily
- Knowledgeable and capable of performing minor maintenance and repairs including painting, basic carpentry, basic plumbing, etc.
- Assists with special projects as needed
- Performs duties related to Hazardous Waste Management
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Candidate Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Strong mechanical aptitude
- 2+ years of experience
- Previous experience in a maintenance program preferred
- Knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and mechanical systems (including relevant equipment and tools) is a plus
- Ability to stand or walk for extended periods of time; ability to bend, kneel, stoop, and lift or move heavy equipment
- Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and other manuals/documents
- Ability to work within a team environment and follow instructions from supervisors
- May be required to work outside of normal working hours
- Good communication skills
- Ability to read, write, speak and understand English
- Self-directed with ability to prioritize projects and multi-task
- Capable of performing tasks in efficient and accountable manner with little to no supervision
