POSITION SUMMARY:

Washing Systems, LLC (WSI), now part of the Kao family of companies, seeks a highly self-motivated Engineering Intern to join our thriving team. This position is designed for individuals eager to gain hands-on experience in the engineering field by assisting with essential tasks that support our engineering projects and operations. WSI is the largest supplier of laundry chemicals to the commercial laundry industry in North America. WSI provides high quality chemical products for both uniform and linen rental companies. Reporting to the Director of Engineering, the Engineering Intern is a key member of the Engineering/Equipment Department with responsibilities, including, but not limited to, equipment activities, engineering projects, and technical guidance.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBLITIES AND TASKS:

Responsibilities and tasks are written as follows:



  1. Assist in organizing and managing engineering projects.
  2. Assist with testing, operation, maintenance, and repair of equipment.
  3. Assist with product design and changes.
  4. Perform administrative functions such as evaluating and writing reports.
  5. Develop and implement policies, standards, and procedures for the engineering and technical work performed.
  6. Initiate, plan and participate actively in equipment modifications and project improvement for quality, productivity and cost reduction.
  7. Identify advanced technologies and applications for potential business development.
  8. Evaluate Engineering/Equipment processes and SOP's to identify areas of improvement.
  9. Assist Director of Engineering in coordinating work to support project management and day-to-day operations.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate engineering program or recent graduate.
  • Preference will be given to candidates in mechanical, electrical or industrial maintenance/engineering and/or related college or technical course work.
  • Preferred skills include:
  • Strong communication, critical thinking, and organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Strong computer skills and the ability to work independently.
  • Eagerness to learn and take on new challenges.
  • Auto CAD and PLC programming experience a plus.
