Job Description

Five Colleges, Incorporated has an opening for a Repository Collection Metadata Coordinator to develop and then implement a plan for maintaining complete and accurate metadata for materials in the Five College Library Repository Collection. The Repository Collection is housed at two off-campus facilities and includes about 810,000 print items previously held by Five College libraries (Amherst, Hampshire, Mount Holyoke, and Smith Colleges and the University of Massachusetts Amherst) and affiliates.

This is a 10 hour/week non-exempt, casual, non-benefited position with Five Colleges, Incorporated. The primary work location for this role is in N. Hatfield, Massachusetts, though some hours may be performed remotely (within Massachusetts only).

Duties

Working closely with librarians across the Five College Consortium, the Metadata Coordinator updates and, as needed, remediates records to ensure those materials are discoverable and accurately described to users within and beyond the Five College community.

You could be a great fit for this position if you:

  • Are not mystified by metadata
  • Find satisfaction in following standards and ensuring consistency
  • Know how to catalog serials and the best ways to do so
  • Are familiar with integrated library systems - for library services, cataloging, and discovery - even better if you're familiar with FOLIO
  • Make good decisions and act independently
  • Have a knack for building consensus and supporting collaborative goals

Importance of Diversity to our Mission

Five Colleges, Incorporated and its five associated institutions are committed to supporting and sustaining a diversity of people, backgrounds, experiences, ideas, and points of view for the essential contribution this diversity makes to the missions of our organizations. In support of this commitment, Five Colleges requires all of its employees to work cooperatively and effectively with the diversity of people within the organization itself, at the colleges, and in our partner organizations.
