Job Description Summary |
Position: The School of Communication and Journalism at Auburn University invites applications for a one-year, Visiting Assistant Professor/Visiting Lecturer/Visiting Professor of Practice of Film beginning August 16, 2025.
Responsibilities: This is a one-year, nine-month, non-tenure track, full-time teaching faculty position in the undergraduate
FILM program. Primary responsibilities of the successful candidate are to teach a variety of on campus, face-to-face undergraduate
FILM courses during the fall and spring semesters. Film courses include 2000 level introductory and 3000 intermediate filmmaking courses.
Salary is competitive, dependent on qualifications and contingent on funding. |
Minimum Qualifications |
* Visiting Assistant Professor Appointment: Requires a terminal degree (
MFA/PhD) in Film or a related area at the time of appointment and three years of full-time film production experience.
* Visiting Lecturer Appointment: Requires a master's degree in Film or a related field at the time of appointment and five years of full-time film production experience.
* Visiting Professor of Practice Appointment: Requires a bachelor's degree in Film or a related area at the time of appointment and ten years of full-time film production experience.
Salary is competitive, will be commensurate with experience and qualifications, and is contingent on funding.
The candidate selected for this position must be able to meet eligibility requirements to work in the United States at the time the appointment is scheduled to begin and continue working legally for the proposed term of employment; excellent communication skills required. |

About the FILM Program: The Film Option is a practice-based sequence of courses designed to develop skills applicable to narrative and documentary films, commercials, branded video and animation. Students learn how to write, direct, film, edit, color grade, composite and design sound. Students also complete a mix of individual and collaborative projects designed to develop conceptual and technical film and media making skills.
