Incubator Prototype Lead (remote)

This is a remote position open to any qualified applicant in the United States.

Summary

The Protype Lead is a Subject Matter Expert (SME) responsible for providing expert guidance and support in prototype development, user experience (UX) design, and user interface (UI) design throughout the incubator program. This role focuses on enabling teams to create functional and user-friendly prototypes that demonstrate the core functionality of their solutions. The Prototype Lead ensures that project teams have the necessary expertise and resources to design and test their prototypes effectively. The role requires strong collaboration, communication skills, and prior experience using Figma, Adobe XD, or Sketch prototyping software in a startup or incubator environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prototype Development and Guidance:

  • Guide project teams on the use of prototyping tools and technologies, including no-code/low-code platforms.

  • Guide teams in defining the scope and functionality of their prototypes.

  • Provide expertise in the design and development of product requirements and technical feasibility.

  • Support teams in developing timelines and milestones for prototype development.

  • Ensure that designs are user-centered and aligned with project goals.

  • User Experience (UX) Design:

  • Lead workshops and training sessions on user experience design principles.

  • Guide project teams in creating user-centered designs that are intuitive and effective.

  • Assist teams in conducting user research and gathering feedback on their designs.

  • Support teams in iterating on their designs based on user feedback.

  • User Interface (UI) Design

  • Provide expertise in the design of user interfaces, ensuring they are visually appealing and easy to use.

  • Guide teams in incorporating brand identity and standards into their UI designs.

  • Assist teams in conducting UI testing and gathering feedback for iterative improvements

  • Testing and Validation:

  • Provide guidance and support to teams in designing user testing protocols.

  • Guide teams in selecting representative users for testing and gathering feedback.

  • Support teams in analyzing user feedback and identifying areas for improvement.

  • Ensure that prototypes are tested in a controlled environment and that all data is captured.

  • Curriculum Development:

  • Contribute to the development of curriculum content related to prototyping, UX design, and UI design.

  • Provide input on templates and frameworks for project teams to use.

  • Stay up to date with the latest trends and best practices in design and prototyping.

  • Collaboration and Communication

  • Work closely with the Incubator Director, Program Coordinator, and other staff members to ensure alignment with program goals.

  • Facilitate communication and collaboration among participants, mentors, guest speakers, and other stakeholders.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in design, human-computer interaction, or a related field preferred.

  • Proven experience in product design, UX design, or UI design, preferably in the healthcare industry.

  • Experience using prototyping tools such as Figma, Adobe XD, or Sketch is required.

  • Demonstrated ability to create functional and user-friendly prototypes using a variety of tools, including no-code/low-code platforms.

  • Strong understanding of user experience (UX) design principles and methodologies.

  • Experience in conducting user research and gathering feedback for design improvements.

  • Proficiency in using design software and prototyping tools.

  • Excellent organizational, planning, and project management skills.

  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, including the ability to articulate design concepts effectively.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and adapt to changing priorities.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in design, human-computer interaction, or a related field.

  • Experience in the healthcare industry or a related technology field.

  • Experience working with startups or innovation programs.

  • Certification in UX design or UI design.

  • Knowledge of product development processes.

  • Experience with usability testing and analysis.

Salary and Other Compensation:

Applications will be accepted until May 23, 2025.

The annual salary for this position is between $113,000 - $140,000 depending on experience and other
qualifications of the successful candidate.

This position is also eligible for Cognizant's discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and
subject to the terms of Cognizant's applicable plans.
