The applicant will contribute to an externally funded research project focused on quantifying the spinal control of motor output in mammalian models. Responsibilities include overseeing surgical aspects of large animal in vivo experiments, coordinating protocol development, managing data collection, and ensuring animal welfare. The role involves assisting in project management, conducting data analysis, and collaborating with team members and external partners for data interpretation and dissemination.

Essential functions:
-Surgical Oversight: Oversee and assist with surgical procedures necessary for large animal in vivo experiments, ensuring adherence to ethical guidelines and protocols.
-Data Collection Management: Aid the collection of experimental data, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and compliance with research objectives.
-Data Analysis: Conduct data analysis related to spinal control of motor output, collaborating with team members to interpret findings.
-Animal Welfare: Ensure proper care and handling of animals involved in experiments, following institutional animal care and use protocols.
-Project Management: Contribute to the management of the research project, including timeline coordination, resource allocation, and communication with stakeholders.
-Collaboration: Work closely with research team members and external collaborators to interpret results, disseminate findings, and prepare publications.

Required Education & Experience: 10+ years' experience with large animal surgeries is required. A PhD is preferred. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Required skills and abilities:
*Surgical Expertise: Proficiency in performing and supervising animal surgeries, including experience with large animal models.
*Data Analysis: Strong analytical skills with experience in processing and interpreting complex data, particularly in a biological or neurological context.
*Experimental Design: Ability to develop and refine experimental protocols and methodologies to address specific research questions.
*Project Management: Ability to contribute to project management tasks, including coordinating timelines, resources, and communication among team members.
*Animal Care and Welfare: Deep understanding of and commitment to animal welfare protocols, ensuring ethical treatment and proper care of research animals.
*Collaboration and Communication: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for working with a multidisciplinary team and collaborating with external partners.
*Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with research tools and technologies, including electrophysiological recording systems, data analysis software, and lab equipment.
*Attention to Detail: Strong attention to detail in both experimental procedures and data handling to ensure accuracy and reliability.
*Problem-Solving: Ability to troubleshoot experimental issues and find solutions to challenges encountered in research protocols.
*Regulatory Knowledge: Understanding of regulatory requirements related to animal research and experience in maintaining compliance with relevant ethical standards.
