SUMMARY

Responsible for developing 3D CAD solid models and detailed 2D drawings in support of the production of standard and customized products. Works closely with engineering, project managers, and production staff on the development of detailed drawings and mechanical assemblies. Develops and maintains bill of materials and related product data sheets. Adheres to company specific and industry recognized drafting and detailing standards. Interfaces with vendors to resolve design and fabrication issues.


PRIMARY RESPONSIBLITIES

  • 3D modeling using parametric CAD software of sheet metal components, steel weldments, and complex mechanical assemblies.
  • Translate conceptual ideas into practical designs while considering factors such as functionality, manufacturability, and cost effectiveness.
  • Research and source subcomponents and parts for incorporation into design.
  • Develop, document, and maintain detailed bill of materials and purchase lists.
  • Develop graphical details for operational instructions, manuals, and technical data sheets.
  • Generate conceptual drawings and other graphics for bid and proposal efforts.
  • Assist in the development of pricing sheets for both standard products and custom applications.
  • Work collaboratively with project team members in translating design technical and functional requirements into detailed drawings to support fabrication and assembly.
  • Comply with all RPS values, policies, procedures, and work instructions.
  • Perform other duties as assigned and/or required.


ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILEITES

  • Assist with drawings in accordance with applicable standards.
  • Update and redesign standard products for improvement of functionality and cost reduction, as assigned.
  • Assist with assembly and testing of equipment as directed.


REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Associate Degree in Mechanical Engineering/Technology, plus a minimum of 2 years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience providing the required skills and knowledge for successful performance.


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES



    • Proficiency in SolidWorks and AutoCad or DraftSight.
    • CSWP SolidWorks Professional Certification.
    • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
    • Proficiency in MS Office software.
    • Ability to work with minimal supervision and independently to bring assignments to satisfactory conclusion on a timely basis.
    • Ability to perform additional duties/assignment is needed to meet departmental and/or organizational goals.
