Job Summary

The College of Engineering is seeking a highly skilled and innovative Research Assistant specializing in AI-driven smart manufacturing, digital twin systems, and VR-enabled predictive maintenance, with responsibilities that include assisting in lab setup, developing educational materials, and preparing research for publication and workshop dissemination.

Essential Functions



  • Develop and execute research projects that use virtual reality to enhance intelligent manufacturing processes.
  • Collaborate with faculty, researchers, and students to publish research findings and present at scientific conferences.
  • Seek grant opportunities and draft reports to support the funding of research activities.
  • Engage in digital manufacturing simulations and experiments to optimize production efficiency and innovation.
  • Design and implement virtual reality environments for robotic interaction and IoT integration.
  • Contribute to the creation and maintenance of project websites to showcase research findings and advancements.
  • Apply AI and ML techniques to improve automation and data analytics in manufacturing systems.


Required Qualifications



  • Minimum of master's degree or the equivalent combination of education and work experience.

  • Minimum 2 years of relevant experience.


Preferred Qualifications



  • Master's degree in Robotics, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
  • Strong publication record in peer-reviewed journals and conferences.
  • Excellent collaboration skills with the ability to work in a multidisciplinary team.
  • Proficiency in programming languages and tools relevant to AI and ML.

Additional Information

This is a Full-Time temporary position classified as Non-Exempt. The offered pay is based on the successful candidate's qualifications and experience, department budget, and an internal equity review.
