The remote-based Field Application Specialist will be responsible for offering overall product expertise, application knowledge, and technical support along each step of the customer process for the Bioreactor Technology products. The primary mission is to ensure the successful application, implementation, qualification, and use of our products by supporting sales for product positioning and demonstration and customers for application development work, initial startup, training, and troubleshooting.

Sartorius has an exciting opportunity for a dynamic, self-motivated professional to support our customers and organization within the RTP, North Carolina region for Sartorius' Bioreactor and Process Analytical technologies. In this remote position, the individual will be a trusted business partner to our customers. This is a remote/field-based position out of the RTP area (Raleigh/Durham, NC) and will assist with customers locally and be responsible for customers in the FL, GA, AL, SC, TN, and Puerto Rico areas. Travel for this position may be up to 50% at times, based on customer need, and some international travel may be required.

What you will accomplish together with us

  • Collaborate with the account management team for customer discussions on existing products through product presentations, demonstrations, trials, and application studies
  • Support new products through close collaboration with beta site testing, product demonstrations/discussions, and information gathering
  • Collaborate with account management in the customer process, URS analysis, and technical response, and lead customer evaluations to help position products in line with the application requirements. Strategize with assigned Account Managers to generate value-adding activities according to customer and business needs.
  • Assist the Company by occasionally supporting the training of other Field Application Specialists and the Account Management team on assigned technologies and/or processes.
  • Provide technical qualification of sales opportunities to ensure appropriate positioning of technology within the customer application
  • Ensure training of customers on new technologies and support initial start-up operations
  • Support regional marketing initiatives
  • Support Quality Department in the quality complaint process by troubleshooting and analyzing customers' processes for better investigation and resolution
  • Support the development of strong relationships with accounts within the assigned sales territory
  • Report on competitors' product implementation & presence within the territory by feedback to the Application Services and Product Management Team
  • Required interface with product/project/division management with the willingness and ability to interact at various levels (sales, technical, customers)
  • Ability to lift 35+ pounds

What will convince us:

  • Bachelor's degree in biological/life sciences and/or engineering
  • 3+ Years biopharmaceutical industry experience in USP process development and/or MSAT
  • Product and application expertise in mammalian cell culture, stir tank bioreactor platform, upstream bioprocessing (USP), and hands-on experience for key applications regarding USP, including bioreactor scale-up and scale-down
  • Multi-task and prioritize activities accordingly
  • Self-motivated; team player
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
