Primary Duties

Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. These duties and responsibilities will be rated on the Annual Performance Review.

  • Develop, implement, and manage safety programs in compliance with local, state, federal, and accreditation regulations; prepare reports and presentations on health and safety performance for management and stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with management to promote a culture of safety within the organization while staying updated with the latest health and safety legislation and best practices.
  • Conduct workplace assessments and audits to identify safety hazards and risk factors; investigate incidents and accidents, documenting findings and recommending corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Provide training and resources to employees regarding health and safety standards and practices.
  • Maintain records of safety inspections, incidents, and safety training sessions.

Additional Duties and Responsibilities

  • Providing OSHA, de-escalation, and First Aid training and education.
  • Developing policies to promote occupational health and safety awareness.
  • Monitoring operations to eliminate hazardous activities.
  • Assessing equipment and machinery for safety.
  • Investigating on-site accidents.
  • Tracking and analyzing incidents and accidents.
  • Conducting regular safety inspections.
  • Ensuring compliance with OSHA, federal, and state regulations.
  • Perform other responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications: Education, Experience and Certification(s)

  • Minimum of an associate's degree in occupational health and safety, environmental science, or related field. Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years' experience in health and safety or workplace training required.
  • Knowledge of OSHA regulations and other health and safety standards required.
  • Proficiency in safety management software and other relevant technology required.
  • Certifications in occupational health and safety (such as Certified Safety Professional, Certified Industrial Hygienist, OSHA certifications) are preferred.
  • Valid driver's license and/or access to reliable transportation to perform work-related travel required. Eligible drivers must have a good motor vehicle record (MVR).

  • Excellent communication skills to train and inform employees.
  • Problem-solving abilities to address safety problems effectively.
  • Attention to detail to ensure all safety measures are followed thoroughly.
  • A well-organized & self-directed individual who is a team player.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with consumers, families, all levels of staff and community agencies.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office skills, with the ability to become familiar with corporate specific programs and software.
  • Must handle confidential and delicate matters with diplomacy while maintaining a big-picture perspective to support the overall development of the organization.
  • Ability to interact with people at all levels of the organization.

Work Environment

The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet. Work is performed primarily in an office with some activities conducted outdoors in varying climate.
