Position Description: Lead and oversee Information Services (IS) team operations, ensuring the development and maintenance of reliable and scalable data infrastructure operations across company. Provide both technical expertise and end-to-end management of data infrastructure projects.

Essential Duties & Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement data pipelines, data warehouses, and data lakes, ensuring they are reliable, scalable, and secure. This includes choosing appropriate technologies and tools, optimizing performance, and implementing data quality checks.
  • Ensure data is handled according to company policies, industry regulations, and best practices.This includes implementing data governance policies, managing access controls, and ensuring data is protected from unauthorized access.
  • Collaborate with other teams, such as Business Intelligence, data scientists, and business analysts, to understand data requirements and deliver data solutions.
  • Communicate data engineering initiatives to senior management and other stakeholders.
  • Lead strategic planning, operational management, team leadership, vendor management, and collaborate with various functional senior management and cross-functional teams for efficient and effective delivery of data engineering projects.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation for data architecture, processes, and best practices
  • Monitor and optimize data workflows for performance and efficiency.
  • Stay informed about new data technologies and trends and identify opportunities to improve data engineering practice to enhance data processing capabilities.
  • Conduct continuous improvement activities with teams to identify technology solutions and practices to increase efficiency of data engineering processes and systems
  • Manage teams, participate in hiring process, onboard new employees, deliver timely performance feedback, contribute to performance appraisals during annual performance cycle, utilize talent management systems, and identify appropriate training to help with development needs.
  • Coach and mentor data engineering team in areas of customer service, organizational awareness, IS continuous improvement and project management methodologies, IS standard operating procedures (SOPs), and SOPs for vendor management.
  • Other activities, duties, and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree from accredited degree program in Information Services, Computer Science, Operations, Business Management, or related field of study, and minimum of 15 years of progressive responsibility in Information Services Management, Technology Support Services, Data & Analytics, or related area, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience directing, mentoring, and motivating teams and resources
  • Strong technical skills in data engineering, including experience with data pipelines, data warehousing, and data lakes
  • Experience working with Databricks and Azure Fabric
  • Experience leading and managing a team of data engineers, including setting goals, managing performance, and providing mentorship
  • Experience setting strategic direction and managing budgets
  • Ability to establish, articulate, execute strategy, track goals, and measure results
  • Advanced experience directing teams to apply project and change management methodologies, continuous improvement principles, and Agile concepts
  • Professional and executive level communication skills, ability to engage with senior level management, and influence and build consensus across diverse set of stakeholders
  • Experience implementing large IS cross-functional projects and successful project implementations
  • Proficient negotiation skills, ability managing contracts and vendors relationships
  • Limited travel required

The noise in the construction work environment is usually moderate to loud. The employee is required to work in compliance with company safety policies, procedures, and applicable laws.

The annual salary range for New York City candidates is $166,000 - $230,000.
