As Regional Counsel you must be able to address a wide range of transactional and commercial matters that affect day-to-day business operations, including drafting, negotiating, and interpreting commercial contracts, advising on business strategy, collaborating with internal and external attorneys and offering general legal support to the business. You will have strong experience in commercial contracts, be well-organized, able to prioritize effectively, and demonstrate strong attention to detail. A commitment to delivering high-quality results and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment are essential for success in this role.

This role is a unique opportunity in a multinational corporate legal organization to: 1) work independently day-to-day with multiple business units and related support functions, while under the mentorship and guidance of the VP & Assistant General Counsel and Americas Regional General Counsel; 2) enable the company's strategy and operations by providing practical, solution-oriented approaches to a broad range of complex legal issues and risks; and 3) build experience that demonstrates business acumen and a pragmatic approach to legal solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Review, draft, and manage commercial contracts relevant to the company's business and other related documents (e.g., sales and procurement agreements, toll-manufacturing agreements, distribution and agency contracts, non-disclosure agreements, customer tender documentation).
  • Provide on-going general legal support to internal clients on a variety of day-to-day legal matters and projects, such as management of claims and litigation, capital projects, real estate, debtors' and creditors' rights, and other customer and vendor documents.
  • Provide support related to environmental health & safety, supply chain and product regulatory matters.
  • Coordinate with subject matter legal experts and other in-house attorneys to ensure efficient delivery of legal services.
  • Assist and guide the development, implementation and deployment of forms, procedures, policies, training, and playbooks designed to create operational efficiencies in contract review for sales and sourcing teams.
  • Develop strong relationships with internal contacts, including, but not limited to, other in-house attorneys, Supply Chain, Risk Management, HR, Finance and other internal subject matter experts to ensure a high service level and anticipate special needs.
  • Responsible for effectively managing outside counsel.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Experience as a negotiator for various sized contractual transactions and excellent drafting and negotiation skills.
  • Familiarity with the operational transactional needs of a high-volume sales organization.
  • Excellent communications skills and the ability to update leadership on deal negotiations by summarizing and communicating key issues.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to act independently with little supervision.
  • Experience engaging and managing outside counsel in an effective and efficient manner.
  • A team-player with the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional and cross-divisional teams.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to build strong working relationships within a large and matrixed organization, understand strategic direction, and support the business accordingly.

Qualifications:

  • Juris doctor (JD) from an accredited law school and active license to practice law in at least one state.
  • 2-5 years of legal experience as a practicing attorney with at least 2 years of law firm or in-house experience; experience as an in-house generalist (or similar) lawyer preferred.
  • Business-minded attorney with strong initiative, excellent client counseling and collaboration skills. A business partner, who likes working side-by-side with business teams and has the ability to effectively manage opposing views.

The expected compensation range for this position is between $91,800.00 and $128,625.00 plus discretionary bonuses. The exact compensation may vary based on your skills, experience and other factors permitted by law.
