Role and Responsibilities The Project Accountant is responsible for all accounting functions associated with assigned projects. You will work closely with and provide support to the Project Managers for the respective projects, serve as a liaison between the Operations and Accounting Departments, and assist with budgets and other financial projections related to the projects, as well as with project costs, revenues, and cash flow analysis. This position will be under the direct supervision of the Project Accounting Manager.
- Assist in the preparation and maintenance of the Budget Control Report.
- Provide Project Managers with weekly/monthly data such as unit and job costs, purchase orders issued for the period, and any such other accounting information requested.
- Assist in the tracking of invoices, purchase orders, discrepancies, etc., on an as-requested basis.
- Monitoring of rental equipment used on jobs, runtime, downtime, and rental duration.
- In conjunction with the Project Manager, develop the Period End cost to complete reports for the projects
- Assist Project Managers in the preparation and updating of project reports, giving explanations for significant variances between budgeted and actual costs and revenues on a timely basis.
- Travel to project sites to correlate with the Project Managers on project costs.
- Performs other related duties as assigned, as time permits.
- Participates in Safety and Environmental initiatives that will contribute to compliance of State/Federal regulations and continuous improvement of existing Company programs.
Qualifications and Education Requirements The employee must have:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or related experience.
- 3 to 5 years of corporate accounting experience, including 3 years in month-end close procedures.
- At least 3 years of experience in construction accounting, with a focus on completion accounting.
- Experience with Microsoft Business Central accounting software is preferred but not required.
- Proficient in advanced MS Excel and Word
- Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and possess a "Hands-on" professional attitude.
- Ability to multi-task, meet tight deadlines, and perform self-review of work product for quality in a dynamic environment.
- Must have strong communication skills with the ability to interact/develop strong internal peer working relationships
- Preferred experience in a project cost accounting environment.
- Ability to comply with safety rules and regulations.
- Ability to work effectively and efficiently
- Ability to work away from home at remote project locations for extended durations.
- Must be reliable and motivated.
- Ability to obtain TWIC.
- Ability to communicate effectively with co-workers and supervisors.
- Competencies: stress management/composure, teamwork, results-driven.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS The employee must be able to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable workplace accommodation. The individual must also be able to wear and properly utilize appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) to work or visit within areas where it is required. This includes hard hat, safety glasses, life vest, respirators, earplugs, steel-toed shoes, personal flotation devices (PFD's), or other protective equipment as required by the work performed and the location where the work is being done. In addition, the employee must also be capable of:
- Walking, stepping, climbing, or otherwise moving from one location on the job site to another, which may be of varying heights and access parameters.
- Standing, stooping, twisting, bending, crouching, kneeling, squatting, climbing, or sitting repetitively and/or for long periods.
- Repetitive movements by feet, shoulders, arms, wrists, hands, and back in the performance of work.
- Must be able to lift and carry 30 lbs individually. Anything greater than 30 lbs and up to 60 lbs will require additional lifting means.
- Must be able to push and pull at a peak force of 150lbs.
- Climbing stairs and/or vertical ladders of a height of 6ft or greater.
- Working in confined work areas and/or elevated heights.
- Adapting to temperature changes, outdoor conditions, and prolonged exposure to dusty, wet, or humid conditions, loud noises, and vibration.
