JOB SUMMARY

This position is accountable for the safe and efficient operation of forging equipment and the preparation of metal stock for forging processes. The primary focus is to produce precision metal components by heating, shaping, and forming materials to required specifications. Responsibilities include setup, operation, and maintenance of forging machinery while maintaining a clean and organized work area.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Set up and operate forging presses and hammers according to production specifications.
  • Inspect raw materials and finished products to ensure they meet dimensional and quality standards.
  • Monitor temperatures, pressures, and forming parameters to ensure consistent product output.
  • Operate overhead cranes and forklifts to move heavy materials and dies.
  • Record production data and complete required documentation accurately.
  • Ensure proper use of safety gear and compliance with all safety protocols.
  • Notify Lead or Maintenance personnel if machinery is not operating correctly.


ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform routine maintenance checks and minor adjustments on forging equipment.
  • Assist in die changes, setups, and clean-up activities.
  • Support continuous improvement and lean manufacturing initiatives.



MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS (Knowledge, Skills, Abilities)

  • Basic understanding of forging operations and equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors and coworkers in a professional environment.


PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS

  • Familiarity with heating and metal deformation principles.
  • Experience with hydraulic or mechanical forging presses.
  • Uses sound judgment in process troubleshooting and decision-making.



PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Manufacturing environment. Must wear appropriate personal protective equipment. Ability to position self to handle, move, and inspect materials and dies weighing up to 70 pounds. Exposure to high temperatures and heavy equipment operation.
