Argen is looking for a Dental Stain and Glaze Technician to play a key role in applying stains and glazes to ceramic and composite restorations. This position focuses on creating highly aesthetic, natural-looking crowns, veneers, bridges, and other prosthetics. The technician ensures that each restoration is finished with precise color matching and realistic detail, contributing to optimal patient satisfaction through high-quality, lifelike results that accurately replicate natural dentition.

Schedule: M-F, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM

Location: 8515 Miralani Dr, San Diego, CA 92126

The day-to-day:

  • Apply ceramic stains and glazes to crowns, veneers, bridges, and other dental restorations to achieve lifelike esthetics.
  • Use manual techniques and airbrushing to replicate natural enamel shading, translucency, and surface texture.
  • Match restoration shades accurately using prescription details and shade guides (e.g., Vita shade guide).
  • Operate and maintain ceramic furnaces and related equipment for proper firing, curing, and bonding of materials.
  • Inspect restorations under magnification to ensure precision, quality, and adherence to aesthetic standards.
  • Follow case documentation and work instructions to meet clinician specifications and turnaround timelines.
  • Maintain proper labeling, organization, and documentation of cases throughout the stain and glaze process.
  • Participate in quality control checks and final inspections.
  • Monitor inventory of stains, glazes, and related supplies, and communicate reordering needs.
  • Stay current on new products, materials, and techniques in ceramic finishing and dental esthetics.
  • Abide by all safety, quality, and other company requirements.

What does it take to be successful:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Certification in dental technology (preferred).
  • 2-5 years of hands-on experience in a dental laboratory setting, specifically with ceramic stain and glaze techniques.
  • Skilled in using brushes, airbrushes, and related tools for detailed esthetic work (2+ years preferred).
  • Strong understanding of color theory, shade matching, and ceramic layering techniques (Vita or similar shade systems).
  • Ability to work using a magnifying lens for extended periods of time to perform precise detail work.
  • 1-2 years' experience of ceramic furnaces and curing processes.
  • Excellent hand-eye coordination and keen attention to detail.
  • Dexterity/Handling small products (teeth size or equivalent).
  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Work in a team environment with a positive, can-do attitude.
  • Ability to learn technical concepts by reading work instructions and standard operating procedures and completing on-the-job training.
  • Knowledge of cGMP regulations ISO 13485, 21CFR Part 820, CMDR SOR/98-282, 93/42/EEC, RDC 16 2013, MHLW MO 169 and TG(MD)R Sch3 preferred.
