The Role

Join Insights & Technolgy in transforming cancer care through technology. As a key member of the executive team reporting to the President, the VP, Chief Technology Officer (CTO) will lead the strategic vision, development, and delivery of I&Ts oncology-focused technology portfolio-including the flagship electronic medical record (EMR) platform, IknowMed -to enhance the provider and patient experience across the cancer care continuum.

The VP, Chief Technology Officer will lead the engineering, infrastructure, and tech ops teams, and will partner with both the Life Sciences, Clinical Research, and Provider Product teams, to design, develop, and launch technology products, features, and enhancements that serve Oncology providers and Life Sciences. They will utilize technology to improve cancer patient outcomes by ensuring access to the right treatment, at the right time, and the right patients.

Key Responsibilities

Technology:

  • Defines the technology strategy and vision to accelerate innovation and deliver robust, scalable products across the organization and to customers.

  • Understands external market trends in the healthcare system, changes in customer expectations and evolving policies/regulations.

  • Leads collaboration across multiple stakeholders to consider new solutions/insights for delivery value based on external market needs.

  • Serves as the top technology architect and engineer and is responsible for technology innovation, including product technology as well as underlying architecture and enabling tools to deploy new, enhanced customer-facing solutions.

  • Creates common platforms, services and frameworks that facilitate reuse, interoperability and consistency across product and product teams.

  • Ensures the company's technology products and development processes comply with healthcare privacy & regulations, data & platform security standards, and other local laws, regulations.

Operational Excellence:

  • Establishes operating cadence to gain continuous input from customer and key external stakeholders to improve overall product quality and incorporate new value creation based on market trends.

  • Works closely with Product teams to ensure alignment of product and engineer resources. Coordinates all product technology development and engineering activities.

  • Continues to drive operational improvements in portfolio management, resource management, decision effectiveness, and execution effectiveness (e.g., quality, release deployment, architecture) to enhance overall product development capability.

  • Drives continuous improvement using metrics and KPIs to manage and improve product development/engineering effectiveness.

  • Cultivates strong relationships with oncology providers, internal teams, and external partners.

Financial Excellence:

  • Establishes and Monitors KPIs and budgets to assess technological performance including individual projects, product objectives as well as overall technology budgets.

  • Establishes and meets the annual budget for the assigned business/segment.

  • Gains accuracy in forecasts & delivers product delivery on time and on budget.

  • Develops and deploys strategies to optimize technology assets to meet financial objectives.

Qualifications Minimum Requirements

15+ years of technology experience; preferred healthcare / EMR knowledge.

Critical Skills
  • Strong regulatory compliance knowledge related to product development, electronic records management, and PHI data privacy.

  • Proven leadership in managing large technical and operational teams across complex, matrixed organizations.

  • Success driving change, building cross-organizational partnerships, and achieving high-quality results.

  • Financially adept with experience managing complex budgets and engaging senior stakeholders with integrity and strong communication skills.

  • Experience working with providers, specifically in Oncology.

  • Successful track record of partnership across organizations to build trust and achieve shared goals.

  • Strong executive presence and gravitas.

  • Team orientation with a focus on adding value to the broader ecosystem and enterprise.

Education

Bachelor's degree required. Advanced degree strongly preferred.

The pay range shown below is aligned with McKesson's pay philosophy, and pay will always be compliant with any applicable regulations. $232,900 - $388,100
