Become a part of our Teacher- Scholar community. The Rutgers Center for Cognitive
Science (RuCCS; https://ruccs.rutgers.edu/) in the School of Arts and Sciences at Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey (New Brunswick), has an opening for the position of Non-Tenure Track Lecturer Instructor, starting September 1, 2025. This is an academic year non-renewable appointment with a workload of six courses per year (3 per semester). We are looking for candidates with an interdisciplinary background in cognitive science with a minimum of 3 years of teaching experience in the following concentrations: higher-level cognitive processes such as decision-making, learning and memory, concepts, language and communication, language processing, development, reasoning, metacognition, and collective cognition.
The NTT Lecturer Instructor will join a vibrant interdisciplinary community of teacher-scholars from across the cognitive sciences (including Computer Science, Linguistics, Neuroscience, Philosophy, Psychology). The successful candidate is expected to be an important member of the faculty that helps shape the experience for undergraduate students. Qualifications


Minimum Education and Experience
Ph.D. required in one of the core disciplines of cognitive science (psychology, philosophy, linguistics, computer science); postdoctoral training and/or teaching experience preferred. Areas of study may center on any aspect of higher-level cognitive processes such as decision-making, learning and memory, concepts, language and communication, language processing, development, reasoning, metacognition, and collective cognition.
We seek candidates with a commitment to excellence in teaching.
Please provide a cover letter, CV, strong teaching evaluations or other evidence of teaching excellence, a statement of teaching philosophy (not to exceed 2 pages), and names and contact information for three professional references, with letters available upon request. Certifications/Licenses
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Strong teaching evaluations are a must and experience with innovative instructional techniques is desired. Applicants must have significant experience teaching undergraduate and/or graduate students courses; curriculum development; working with educational software and university-wide learning management platforms (such as Canvas).
