#CA-SS The mission of the Office of Student Learning and Educational Resources (OSLER) is to provide high quality academic support for students in the School of Medicine. The Medical Education Learning Specialist is a key member of the academic support team within OSLER and is responsible for the development, implementation, and continuous evaluation of academic support services for medical students. This position focuses on enhancing student learning and performance through group and individual support in the areas of active learning, remediation, knowledge organization, test taking skills and time management with particular focus on preparation for high-stakes examinations such as the United States Medical Licensing Examination (USMLE) Step 1 and Step 2. The Learning Specialist collaborates with faculty, staff, and students to foster academic success and improve educational outcomes through the delivery of instructional resources, targeted support programs, workshops and individualized academic coaching on educational strategies, learning approaches and cognitive skills. Department Overview The Office of Medical Education (OME) is dedicated to the support and advancement of the teaching mission of the School of Medicine. The primary goal of the organization is to create a supportive and stimulating learning environment that nurtures the requisite and enduring attitudes, skills, and knowledge required of excellent physicians. OME consists of Office of Student & Resident Diversity (OSRD), Undergraduate Medical Education (UME, formerly OME), Graduate Medical Education (GME), Body Donation Program (BDP), and Center for a Diverse Healthcare Workforce with a combined annual budget exceeding $50 million. The Medical Education Learning Specialist is a key member of the academic support team within the Office of Medical Education (OME) and the Office of Student Learning and Educational Resources (OSLER) and is responsible for the development, implementation, and continuous evaluation of academic support services for medical students.
