Role Snapshot

Our Azure Developer supports modernization efforts by developing, deploying, and unit-testing secure, scalable applications in Azure within our Data Logistics line of business. This developer will contribute to enhancing customer-facing web portal and underlying platform functionality. These portals power document scanning, printing, mailing, and data extraction services. This developer will work with our Senior Cloud Developer to build and maintain components, while supporting secure network configurations and infrastructure automation. They assist in making technical design decisions, ensure the scalability, performance, and security of enterprise-level solutions. The role helps to ensure reliable, high-quality service delivery are in alignment with the organization's goals of operational efficiency, security, and a premium customer experience.

Salary Range

$90,000 - $115,000
The base pay offered for this position may vary within the posted range based on your job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and may fall outside of this range.

  • Occasional travel to our Madison Wisconsin offices to take advantage of Hybrid collaboration.
  • Onsite work will be tailored for team cohesion, strategy, planning and collaboration.
  • Employees within 45 miles of WPS Headquarters (1717 W. Broadway in Madison, WI) will be expected to be able to be able to work Hybrid 3 days a week on a regular basis.

  • Like to design, develop, and maintain application code and logic for Azure-based solutions supporting the public web portal and related platform services.
  • Have exposure developing Azure DevOps pipelines using ARM and Terraform to integrate and deploy services in Azure in secure corporate environment.
  • Want to lead unit testing of developed components to ensure code stability before integration testing while collaborating with the testing team to support integration and validation testing cycles; addressing identified issues.
  • Can analyze and optimize the performance of applications, including database queries, application code, and cloud services.
  • Ensure best practices for performance monitoring, load balancing, and autoscaling within our Azure ecosystem.
  • Develop and maintain application integrations with the Microsoft SQL Server to support document workflows; defining database structures to support document workflows and Azure services.
  • Have lead design and code reviews to support maintainability, scalability, and secure development practices.
  • Contribute to documentation of system functionality, service configurations, and development standards.

Minimum Qualifications



  • U.S. citizenship is required for this position due to Department of Defense restrictions.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or equivalent related work experience.
  • 2 or more years of experience in .NET (core development) and C# development.
  • Experience or knowledge of building, deploying, and maintaining cloud-based applications on Microsoft Azure platform; ideally Azure Government - Equivalence experience of on AWS could be considered.
  • Experience or knowledge of developing applications in the Azure ecosystem with .NET, including hands-on use of Docker, Azure Functions, App Service (ReactJS and C#), Key Vault, and integrations with enterprise identity providers in secure or compliance-driven environments such as HIPAA-regulated systems.
  • Proficiency in infrastructure-as-code using Terraform, with experience deploying application services and configuring associated networking within Azure in high-security environments.
  • Exposure to ReactJS, building secure, maintainable, and performant UI for customer-facing apps.
  • Exposure to SQL Server on Azure, with experience in database design, querying, and optimization.


Preferred Qualifications



  • An understanding of enterprise document workflows and imaging systems, including scanned image processing, OCR, and data movement - especially in government, healthcare, or other regulated sectors.
  • Experience or knowledge building data ingestion, processing, and analytical pipelines in the Azure Cloud.
  • An individual who has an entrepreneurial spirit and is not afraid of trying new things.
  • A strong change mindset, flexibility, and openness to suggestions on how this role will evolve and grow in our environment.
  • Experience with agile methodologies using CI/CD techniques in a DevOps environment using Azure DevOps.
  • Familiarity with business architecture frameworks.
  • Experience as an Azure administrator.
  • Having an interest in getting Cloud Certifications such as Azure AZ-300 or AWS Certified Solutions Architect.
