IT Helpdesk/Bench Technician

DSG is seeking an IT Helpdesk/Bench Technician to join our team in either Plymouth, MN or Fargo, ND. In this full time, hourly position, work typically ranges between 7am and 6pm CST, Monday through Friday, but may vary on occasion, according to business needs. As an IT Helpdesk/Bench Technician, you will be responsible for providing front-line technical support to DSG associates. This role addresses helpdesk tickets, performs workstation imaging, and assists with hardware maintenance under direct supervision. Position ensures effective and efficient service and response to internal stakeholders.

A Typical Day in the Life of an IT Helpdesk/Bench Technician at DSG:

• Respond to helpdesk tickets, calls, and messages promptly
• Resolve Tier 1 helpdesk issues or escalate appropriately
• Log service tickets, time, and expenses with accuracy
• Image and prepare workstations for new hires and replacements that ensures an effective onboarding experience for new employees
• Perform basic hardware installs (e.g., memory, hard drives, peripherals)
• Maintain bench area and assist in organizing server/storage areas
• Assist with basic inventory control and documentation
• Participate in recycling and disposal of obsolete equipment
• Report low inventory of standard components
• Follow RMA procedures for returns
• Support logistics for moves, acquisitions, or site support as needed
• Other duties as assigned

A Successful IT Helpdesk/Bench Technician Typically Has:

• A two-year degree with competency in computer hardware and software is preferred
• Previous technical classes or progress in a degree in an Information Technology related field is preferred
• A basic knowledge of computer hardware/software and Windows operating systems
• Previous helpdesk or imaging experience is preferred
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, and flexibility to work on several different tasks throughout the day is required
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills
• Ability to lift and move hardware as needed
• Willingness to travel occasionally
