CSS is seeking successful candidates to support the National Mussel Watch program (MWP) under NOAA's National Centers for Coastal and Ocean Science. The candidate will work to complete the planning and logistics process for the upcoming (FY 2026) MWP of the Southeast US survey. Tasks include: - Engage with local and regional stakeholders to determine site selections based on current needs, historical events, or scientific interests - Assist in the assessment of chemical matrices needed per site, and the types of chemical contaminants selected for sampling based on environmental factors, stakeholder needs, and regional trends. - Assist in the writing of preliminary NOAA Technical report summaries, potential outcomes, and expected findings. - Assist, as needed, in the compiling and shipping of materials and equipment to be distributed to stakeholders and collaborators assisting in the survey, and provide guidance on best practices to collect samples. Education and Experience: - We are seeking a PhD candidate with a background in environmental science or a related field and 2-5 years of experience. - The preferred candidate should have knowledge of the National Mussel Watch program and be familiar with sampling and analysis methods employed by the program.
