We are seeking an experienced Corporate Accounting Manager to join our team. The Corporate Accounting Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the Corporate Accounting Department with the primary focus of responsibility being the Treasury, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable and General Ledger Accounting. This position will report to our Chief Financial Officer.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Supervise several direct reportsincluding, but not limited to 6 Accounts Payable staff and a Staff Accountant.
- Keep updated with changes to regulatory and accounting standards.
- Develop, train and support for all positions within the department including:
- Corporate Accounts Payable
- Subcontract Compliance
- Cash Management
- General Ledger Accounting
- Provide support for Office Managers at other divisions.
- Work with Office Managers in relationship to Accounts Payable, Subcontracts Payable, Purchase Orders and Accounts Receivable functions.
- Monitor internal audit procedures and process for AP, AR and Compliance related functions. Troubleshoot issues and work as a team for resolutions.
- Review and approve vendor setups.
- Run andreview weekly Accounts Receivable aging.
- Follow up with Office Managers on their AR collection efforts and monitor that they are adding notes to document the status.
- Review weekly Accounts Payable on hold reports.
- Work with Office Managers to ensure invoices are approved by project teams and managers in a timely manner.
- Review the AP metrics reporting to ensure the throughput and backlog of unposted invoices is within standard ranges.
- Audits - Coordinate with auditors when the primary topic falls into Accounting Department's responsibility. If the audits relate primarily with Job Cost activity, it would be directed to Corporate Controller/CFO and possibly the district.
- Moss Adams LLP, Insurance-W/comp, General Liability, Auto etc, Caltrans T&M, City of LA Business Tax, Sales Tax, Unsecured Property Tax, etc...
- Prepare various monthly Journal entries andschedules.
- Also review monthly schedules prepared either by direct reports and dotted line reports.
- Works closely with IT Department to develop new reports in Viewpoint as needed.
- Troubleshoot Viewpoint and Accounting Procedure issues with the Department andDistricts. Provide training as needed. Help districts identify best VP reports for their needs.
- Coordinate annual budgeting process.
- State/Federal regulatory reporting as needed.
- Handle special projects as needed.
SPECIFIC JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY
The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities and be able to explain and demonstrate that he or she can perform the essential functions of the job.
- Must be proficient with Microsoft Office applications, specifically needing Intermediate/Advanced skills with Microsoft Excel.
- Experience with Viewpoint Software or an equivalent ERP system is required.
- Must have excellent written and spoken communication skills.
- Must be detail oriented and have the ability to work under pressure and strict deadlines.
EXPERIENCE
- Minimum of 4 years of General Accounting experience
- Prior Supervisory Experience of teams of 4 or more required
- Treasury Management experience preferred
- Civil and/or commercial construction experience preferred
EDUCATION
- Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field.
