Description

AAAS is seeking a Business Analyst-II to join our Office of Publishing.

This position serves as a utility player across the advertising operations, web analytics, and business analysis teams within the Office of Publishing. The position handles tasks ranging from financial data analysis, to reporting and data integrity services in our main customer and order management database, to technical configuration of client advertising campaigns.

Using a combination of systems, including Salesforce, Google Ad Manager 360, Salesforce Marketing Cloud, Excel and Power BI, this position will help keep data and systems clean and usable across several lines of business within the Office of Publishing. Additionally, this position will cross-train and provide coverage across a range of responsibilities when other staff are unavailable while at the same time using that cross-functional experience to document and improve various workflows.

What You'll Do

The essential functions of this position can be broken down into 3 main components:

System Superuser and Data Integrity



  • Serve as advertising superuser in Salesforce CRM customer database, handling records management and data hygiene, ensuring that necessary document backup and notation exists for order records.
  • Improve, develop, and maintain summary reporting in main customer database/CRM system for use by staff and management.
  • Monitor and respond to requests for assistance from sales and other internal customers on behalf of digital advertising operations and order-booking teams.
  • Compile reporting on advertising order trends, utilizing data from order management system and outside systems.


Digital Advertising Operations



  • Use various creative files from clients and specialized ad tagging code, create digital display ad campaigns on Science.org for external paying clients as well as internal marketing efforts.
  • Coordinate with vendor to monitor email alert production and distribution as well as assist with internally-created email alerts.
  • Assist with 3rd party email creation and scheduling by uploading client provided HTML into email marketing system or working with external vendor to create HTML files
  • Coordinate with internal staff and vendors for any necessary troubleshooting.


General Business Operations



  • Collections reporting and related assistance for advertising orders and for author services, coordinating with staff in Finance department.
  • Prepare, review and distribute campaign results reporting, flagging and resolving errors and omissions as appropriate.
  • Using experience covering tasks across several teams, create documentation on regular workflows that will enable cross-training of other staff as well as improvements to existing human and system processes.


Minimum Requirements



  • BA/BS degree
  • 2-3 years relevant experience.
  • Experience using CRM or ERP systems focused on customer records and order management.
  • Experience working with digital creative files, HTML code, and troubleshooting web functionality.
  • Experience working with digital ad serving systems and familiarity with digital advertising concepts and practices.
  • Experience working in a deadline-driven environment with high pressure from internal and external customers.
  • Knowledge of business process design and flowchart systems such as Visio.
  • Knowledge of quality assurance techniques to assess and improve data integrity.
  • Quantitative data processing, report formatting, and data visualization skills in systems such as Excel and Power BI.
  • Knowledge of email automation systems in general and specifically the email creation and deployment functionality within the Salesforce Marketing Cloud system.
  • Excellent multi-tasking and time management/prioritization abilities.
  • Interpersonal skills necessary for communication with multiple internal clients across departments and management levels as well as client and vendor contacts.

The anticipated initial rate of compensation for this position is $67,000 - $75,000 per year. AAAS currently provides the following benefits for this position: paid vacation leave, paid sick leave, paid holidays, health insurance, flexible spending account, dental insurance, life insurance, vision insurance, retirement benefits, short- and long-term disability, each subject to the terms of the applicable program. Additional benefits may apply.
