Senior Construction Inspector - Transportation Projects
Location: Denver, Colorado

David Evans and Associates Inc. (DEA) is seeking a Senior Construction Inspector to join our Construction Engineering Services team in Denver, Colorado. In this vital role, you will be on the front lines of infrastructure delivery, providing on-site inspection and documentation for a variety of transportation projects, including roadways, highways, and bridge structures.

As a key member of the project delivery team, you will help ensure that construction activities meet contract specifications and quality standards, while supporting the successful execution of projects for public sector clients. This is a great opportunity for a detail-oriented professional who takes pride in ensuring that critical infrastructure is built right.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee and monitor daily construction activities on roadway, highway, and bridge projects to ensure compliance with contract plans and specifications.
  • Maintain thorough and accurate documentation including inspector daily reports, construction quantities, site conditions, equipment and materials, and labor activities.
  • Identify and document contract changes and assist in the preparation of change orders and pay estimates.
  • Coordinate with contractors, owners, construction managers, documentation engineers, and other field staff to resolve field issues efficiently and constructively.
  • Verify construction materials and quantities delivered to the site, coordinate materials sampling and testing, and document as-constructed drawings.
  • Capture photo documentation of site conditions and construction progress.
  • Follow established QA/QC procedures in accordance with DOT and local agency standards.

Basic Qualifications

  • Minimum of 10+ years of construction inspection experience on transportation projects (roadway, bridge, highway).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel for documentation and reporting.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with contractors, clients, peers, and the public.
  • Highly organized and self-motivated, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience with CDOT, city, or county transportation projects.
  • CDOT Inspector Certification or ability to obtain.
  • Experience with federally funded transportation projects and related documentation requirements.
