We are seeking a highly skilled and collaborative Technical Analyst with a solid background in SQL and system implementation to join our team. This role will focus on optimizing our Varicent environment, driving architectural improvements, and establishing best practices for Agile delivery. The ideal candidate will bring a product mindset, technical acumen, and a passion for process improvement.

Primary Responsibilities:



  • Data Architecture & Optimization


    • Review and refine the Varicent model and/or future system(s) to eliminate redundant or inconsistent calculations
    • Ensure architectural integrity and maintainability of the system


  • SQL & Technical Expertise


    • Leverage solid SQL skills to quickly understand and navigate the Varicent platform and/or future system(s)
    • Support data validation and troubleshooting efforts


  • System Implementation & Delivery


    • Design and implement features and optimize performance
    • Review code contributions, offering constructive feedback, participate in testing activities to ensure quality
    • Tackle complex technical challenges, troubleshooting issues and providing innovative solutions
    • Lead and contribute to system implementation efforts including writing business requirements, collaborating with developers, and validating deliverables
    • Ensure quality and completeness of code migrations and post-migration validations
    • Create and maintain technical documentation to facilitate knowledge sharing and onboarding
    • Effectively communicate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders


  • Agile Process Leadership


    • Help define and implement Agile best practices tailored to our team's needs
    • Promote disciplined delivery by ensuring only fully vetted and validated code is migrated


  • Product Ownership


    • Act as the Product Owner for the Varicent platform and/or future system(s) and related processes
    • Develop and maintain a product roadmap aligned with business goals
    • Identify opportunities to streamline processes, reports, and workflows and introduce innovative solutions-both within and beyond Varicent


  • Team Collaboration & Culture Fit


    • Work closely with cross-functional team members in a collaborative and respectful environment
    • Contribute to a positive team culture and shared success


  • Modern Software Engineering Practices


    • Demonstrates ability to quickly learn and appropriately apply new technologies to solve engineering challenges
    • Designs, develops, and implements solutions that exemplify modern software engineering practices
    • Reuses and/or develops for reuse complex components or capabilities to solve complex problems and needs
    • Enhances system design/architecture to simplify and improve resiliency in system interactions and dependencies
    • Contributes to or helps drive architecture/design, technology, and tool decisions and implementations
    • Implements and continuously improves Agile software delivery, code management, and operations practices
    • Mentors junior team members in modern engineering practices, technologies, and patterns
    • Owns the technical debt backlog and high-level plan
    • Maintains current perspective on technology trends, applying that to personal and team capability growth
    • Actively participates in code review

Required Qualifications:



  • Solid background in software engineering and technical team experience
  • Proven experience with SQL development and data modeling
  • Proven solid background in system implementation and Agile methodologies
  • Demonstrated ability to lead product initiatives and drive process improvements
  • Proven excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proven deep analytical skills
  • Proven ability to quickly dissect and fix complex issues in existing code and configurations



Preferred Qualifications:



  • Hands-on experience with Varicent or similar incentive compensation platforms
  • Experience with Alteryx
  • Experience with Python

The salary range for this role is $89,800 to $176,700 annually based on full-time employment. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable. In addition to your salary, UnitedHealth Group offers benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
