The Manager of Medical Billing is responsible for all claim submissions and collection activities across multiple entities. Also responsible for developing and monitoring all billing and collection policies, streamlining processes, and assisting with new solutions. Reports to the Senior Director of Patient Financial Services.



Responsibilities

Essential Job Functions:

Managerial Responsibilities:

  • Manage the billing and patient collection teams to include training and development, coaching, counseling, and performance management.
  • Provide timely performance coaching and feedback to include encouraging and recognizing Team Members for excellent performance.
  • Prioritize and assign team workload in accordance with corporate objectives and reporting requirements.
  • Conducts quality audits in Billing to ensure best practices and timely account resolution.
  • Monitors daily performance and the adjusted productivity trackers to meet performance goals.

Billing Policies & Procedural Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for timely and accurate claims submission for all clinics and all patient billing and collections.
  • Troubleshoot billing and payer issues by analyzing denials and payer feedback to resolve problems promptly.
  • Develop and implement strategies using system functionality and billing edits to prevent denials.
  • Develop, implement and update billing policies and guidelines to ensure compliance with healthcare regulations and payer requirements.
  • Key SME in payer guidelines, requirements, coding and billing regulations relevant to Audiology.
  • Understand payer policies regarding corrected claims, payer portals, appeal levels, and timely filing limits
  • Provides updates and revisions on all RCM Standard Operating Procedures and Team Member Success Policies as necessary. Monitors adherence to RCM policies.

  • Comply with HIPAA and HearingLife guidelines.

Cross-Functional Responsibilities:

  • Acts as liaison between Revenue Cycle, IT, Finance, and clinics. Interfaces with all stakeholders as necessary to facilitate billing resolutions.
  • Identifies trends in credentialing and contracting plans and collaborates with each department to resolve any related billing issues.
  • Drive escalations to quick resolutions, partnering with cross functional business units.
  • Support revenue cycle strategies to improve cash collections, expedite account resolution, and enhance billing processes.

Technical System Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for driving the design and utilization of Waystar modules and functionality that yield clean claims and first pass resolution.
  • Oversee the implementation of new products and processes, optimizing existing systems to enhance billing efforts.
  • Utilize Waystar reports and dashboards to develop data-driven action plans for operational enhancement.

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree in healthcare, accounting, finance, or related field required.
  • 5+ years' billing and accounts receivable experience in a multi-state and high-volume of claims environment.
  • Strong leadership skills and experience managing billing teams and collection specialists.
  • Working knowledge of Waystar claims management system modules is required.
  • Demonstrated project management and process improvement skills.
  • Knowledge of billing and revenue cycle management
  • Proven ability to solve problems and implement programs to address complex needs
  • Advanced Excel skills, comprehensive knowledge in Microsoft Office suite
  • Strong technical skills - experience in working in and setting up revenue cycle software.
  • Team player prepared to help and lead others to achieve department goals, and develop and mentor staff

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Manages a team of non-exempt Team Members.

Travel:

Position may require infrequent local and overnight travel for large departmental meetings.
