The Role:

We are looking for our next Microbiologist II within our Quality Control. The Microbiologist II will be responsible for performing microbiological testing on raw material, finished product, and environmental monitoring samples. Follow all GMP and GDP guidelines while performing tasks. Prepare, purchase, and complete QC testing for all Media.

This position is located in Newark, DE.

Compensation:

The current hourly range for this role is estimated to be $30.00 - $35.00. In addition, this position may also be eligible to earn performance-based incentive compensation. The specific compensation offered to a candidate will be influenced by a variety of factors including but not limited to skills, qualifications, experience, and location.

What You'll Do:

  • Follow Test Methods and procedures to perform testing and lab duties.
  • Train & mentor microbiologist I & II.
  • Prepare, culture, and examine samples for microbiological testing.
  • Interpret results of microbiological testing and accurately document those results.
  • Recognize and initiate OOS/Lab Failure documentation.
  • Prepare, purchase, and send out media for QC testing.
  • Organize and maintain data files, outside testing results, and informational tables used for the determination of test procedures.
  • Work independently to manage work progression and time.
  • Environmental monitoring testing for water and swabs.
  • Actively provide feedback to colleagues, is open to discussion & proactively recommends Improvements.
  • Actively solicit feedback from managers & others to prioritize improvements.

What You'll Need:

Education:

  • B.S. Degree in Microbiology, Biological Sciences, Food Science or higher.
  • Minimum of 2 years hands-on experience with quality control microbiology testing is required.
  • Preferred LIMS knowledge.
  • Knowledge of relevant FDA and USP chapters 61 and 62 requirements/guidelines & their application is required.
  • Knowledge & experience in environmental monitoring/testing of clean rooms and aseptic processing as per GMP requirements.

Work Environment

  • This role spends approximately 75% of the time in a laboratory environment, 15% of the time in an office environment, and 10% of the time in the plant environment.

Physical Demands

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to speak or hear. The employee is frequently required to sit, stand; walk, climb stairs, use hands and fingers to handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms; work in hot, cold and loud environments.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

  • This is a full-time position. Tuesday-Saturday 7am-330pm with overtime as needed to meet facility demands.
