Volkert is seeking a driven, technically strong Bridge Project Engineer to support major transportation and bridge projects across Texas. This is your opportunity if you're ready to take ownership of meaningful work, mentor rising engineers, and deliver high-visibility TxDOT projects.

This role is ideal for a PE with 6-9 years of experience who is ready to step into greater technical leadership and project influence located in either Houston or Round Rock, TX.

What you'll be doing:

  • Lead structural analysis and design for complex bridge and transportation structures
  • Perform and oversee load ratings for bridges of varying types, sizes, and complexity
  • Serve as technical reviewer for calculations and design packages
  • Interface directly with TxDOT and other clients
  • Develop cost-effective, constructible solutions within schedule and budget constraints
  • Review construction submittals and support projects through delivery
  • Mentor and supervise Structural EITs and interns
  • Contribute to business development and help grow our bridge practice in Texas

What you need to have:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (Master's preferred)
  • Active P.E. license
  • 6-9 years of bridge design experience
  • Strong TxDOT project experience (required)
  • Proficiency in OpenBridge Designer
  • Deep understanding of AASHTO bridge design specifications
  • Familiarity with TxDOT standards and manuals
  • Experience with rehabilitation and widening of existing bridges
  • Strong communication and client-facing skills
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening to ensure a safe and productive work environment. Volkert adheres to federal guidelines, which may include testing for substances such as marijuana. Please note that federal regulations may differ from state-specific guidelines
  • Valid driver's license
  • A satisfactory motor vehicle report (MVR)
