Responsibilities

Peraton is seeking a Mechanical or Aerospace Engineer to provide engineering/project management and acquisition support of air breathing turbomachinery for our NAVAIR customer in Lexington Part/Patuxent River, MD. This positon is in the Turboprop/Shaft & Small UAV Engine Design branch of the Engines and Auxiliary Power Division of the Propulsion and Power Department at NAVAIR.

What you will do:

Works as an Engineer in the application of advanced theories, concepts, principles and processes in research and engineering, test and evaluation and logistics functions.

    Identifies and solves a wide variety of complex problems with many competing objectives, variables and constraints.
  • Delivers optimized technical solutions that are balanced to achieve required technical performance within cost, schedule and technology constraints.
  • Functions as a project lead, program manager, and/or team member of an integrated team/group providing technical guidance to a technical workforce and meeting customer requirements for products and/or services.
  • Project/Program Management - manage a small to medium scale/scope or segments of a project/program. Applies tools such as but not limited to: Safety evaluations, Risk Management, Configuration Management, Data Management, Trade-off Analysis/Trade Studies, Technical Performance Measurement, Technical Reviews, Modeling & Simulation or Earned Value Management.


Qualifications

What you will need:

  • 2 years with BS/BA; 0 years with MS/MA; 6 years with no degree
  • Project management experience, preferably related to aircraft and engine-related systems.
  • Knowledge of the concepts, principles and practices of engineering that enable you to serve as a subject matter point of contact in the design, development, test, evaluation, and service application of aircraft engines.
  • Secret security clearance
  • Must live close to the Lexington Park, MD area

  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to be a self-directed team player with proven ability to deliver tasks timely and efficiently, and a demonstrated ability to interact professionally with all levels of management
  • High level problem solving and interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of military gas turbine engine systems
  • Flexibility and ability to work in a dynamic environment

Target Salary Range

$66,000 - $106,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
