Position Overview

The Senior Finance Analyst based in New York is a key member of the integrated US & Corporate FP&A team, which is responsible for both managing the Conde Nast US market and Global P&L as well as running the budgeting and forecasting process to help deliver the company's financial targets. The global team is based in the US, UK and India, and we work closely with all functions and markets, as well as the people function. Our work is absolutely critical to the business as we help to 'join the dots' and provide the global executive leadership team with the insight and information needed to manage company performance. We are also at the forefront of implementing consistent and standardised reporting and processes across the company, aligned with our F&O vision.

Key Responsibilities

The primary responsibilities of the role are to support both US and Corporate FP&A teams (operating as one unified finance team), provide a clear narrative to clearly explain financial performance, streamline and increase operational efficiency in FP&A processes, and advocate for alignment and consistency in our reporting and analysis.

US FP&A Responsibilities Include:

  • Support the US FP&A Senior Finance Director in leading the review of the US P&L; ensuring accurate financial reporting and insightful performance analysis. The role will partner with the finance functional teams that work closely with the business and will be instrumental in uncovering the "story" behind the numbers. They will also help the Senior Finance Director provide insights and reporting and recommendations to drive operational performance within the US market.

  • Support the forecasting and budgeting by reviewing the consolidated US results and providing financial narratives that help explain the context on the performance. Help in translating any complex data into clear and compelling presentation-style explanations in order to help Corporate FP&A and Senior stakeholders.

Corporate FP&A Responsibilities Include:

  • Oversee the production of the key monthly consolidated reporting for the group (reviewing the Center of Excellence outputs to ensure accuracy)

  • Help to prepare the monthly financial results to the global CEO & CFO as well as providing reporting packs for the board & Conde Nast Executive Leadership team. Provide insightful, forward-looking commentary on performance and proactively identify areas to investigate further

  • Support the delivery of the global forecast and budget process end to end, working closely with a variety of internal Senior Finance stakeholders across the business

Overall responsibilities:

  • Proactively seek out opportunities to improve the efficiency & effectiveness of Corporate FP&A reporting & insights

  • Manage time sensitive financial insights & reporting requests from senior global stakeholders

  • Support in the delivery of our global rolling risks and opportunities reporting to provide early indicators of global performance outside of the formal planning cycles.

Job Requirements

  • At least +2 years post qualified or QBE with at least 6-7 years relevant experience

  • Experience in media, or a similar industry within an international company

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, experience collaborating with senior finance professionals, partnering with the business & being a 'voice in the room'

  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, comfortable with handling lots of data and delivering quality outputs with minimal review required

  • Proven experience of using initiative to build a deeper understanding of the numbers to 'tell the story' about business performance

  • Able to work in a cross-functional matrix organisation, and experience in managing work deliverables across multiple time-zones.

  • Experience of managing the delivery of reporting improvements from identifying the opportunity through to implementation in a complex operating environment.

  • Works well under pressures prioritises effectively and takes ownership of deliverable

  • Self-motivated, flexible & a great team player, adaptable to pitch in to wider demands of the team where required

  • Proficient user of G-suite, and prior exposure to Adaptive planning (workday) or Oracle EPM

  • Salary range: $90k-$100k
