What You'll Do

This position will be located at our Corporate Office: 2355 W Pinnacle Peak Rd, Phoenix, AZ 85027

The Data Governance Lead plays a key role in leading the development and execution of the credit union's data governance strategy. This role will champion best practices in data management, drive the implementation of governance policies and standards, and ensure consistent, compliant, and secure use of data across the organization.

  • Lead the Data Governance Council, coordinating efforts across departments including Data Analytics, Information Security, Risk & Compliance, Legal, and Technology.
  • Develop and implement data governance policies, standards, and procedures to ensure data accuracy, consistency, security, and accessibility.
  • Identify gaps in current data policies, data quality, ownership, and compliance practices; drive initiatives to close those gaps.
  • Partner with Risk, Compliance and Legal to ensure adherence to regulatory requirements and internal risk frameworks.
  • Collaborate with Data and Infrastructure teams to evaluate and implement data governance tools and platforms, ensuring technical enablement of governance practices.
  • Work with Data Stewards and business units to enforce data governance policies, monitor compliance, and resolve data-related issues.
  • Support change management and training initiatives to promote data literacy and accountability across the credit union.
  • Oversee the creation and maintenance of a centralized policy and metadata repository.
  • Stay up-to-date on industry trends and advancements in data governance practices.
  • Provide regular reporting to execute leadership on governance progress, issues, and performance metrics.

What You Bring

  • High School Diploma Required
  • Bachelor's Degree in Information Systems, Data Management, Business, or a related field Required
  • Master's Degree Preferred
  • 5 to 8 years of similar or related experience in data governance or data management Required.
  • Previous experience in financial services or regulated environment Preferred
  • Strong understanding of data governance frameworks, metadata management, data lineage, data quality, and compliance.
  • Experience leading cross-functional teams or councils.
  • Familiarity with data governance tools (e.g., Collibra, Informatica, Alation) and cloud platforms (e.g., Snowflake, Azure, AWS).
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work across technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of relevant regulations and data privacy/security standards.
  • DCAM, CDMP or similar certifications Required
